Aren't both of those equally bad ways of looking at things?

I'm not sure about that. If you take a completely different player with amazing technical skills, but lesser other attributes, for example Glenn Hoddle. He was criminally underused by England precisely because people focused on what he couldn't do rather than what he could.

It's a common theme over the years. I'm not saying you're wrong I just prefer to look at it that way.

I think he's driven the ball forward and given it to team mates numerous times.
Can't ask for more than that. If a team mate dicks it up from there it's not his fault.
He doesn't get an assist if it's not the direct pass leading to a goal so his stats will he lower than Eriksen. There have been an annoying amount of times recently where Eriksen has totally dithered on the ball and given it away.
He got lucky against West Ham when the tackle landed on Davies running boot...

Nice contribution against Pool. He seems at last to be gaining in confidence, trying more things. I'm starting to look forward to his appearances rather than dread them. Really pleased for him. And to hear the cheers he is now getting.

Fantastic.... Fantastic.....Fuckadoodle do.

Maybe you've never seen good footballers, you know....do football and shit.

Maybe you're one of the fans who sings 'we all dream of a team of Robbie Keanes' absolutely seriously - or that Arsenal don't need a defensive mmidfielder cos they have so many 'technique-based players'.

Its about cogs in a machine, meshing and uniting to become beyond the sum of their parts. Sissoko has contributed towards some fantastic performanes this season already - but because hes not got messi's technique, you refuse to suffer him...

Lets just disagree then...(y)

Been much improved and as said above has become a cog in the wheel. His technical ability is still incredibly poor and if we have an opportunity to sign a player with the same strengths but better technical capacity we should definitely take it.

Pretty clear that he has some strengths
and strength is one of them
and some weaknesses, technique for one..

Questions are:
1) Do we need a player like this?
2) Is he the best of this type available? ( for the money)
3) Will he block Josh or A.N. Other?
4) Does he have a lot more upside? He has certainly improved.
5) Do his strengths sufficiently compensate for his weaknesses.

He's a spurs player so no Spurs fan wishes him ill.

He’s slowly but surely turning my opnion of him. Happy for him seems to be settling in finally.

Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade. He’s certainly been better this year but his touch is just so shit and not even every now and then, literally 90% of the time, one of his first touches was pretty much a 10 yard fucking pass, BUT you have to realise he does actually offer a lot as a player most off the ball actually, he’s a very good athlete, he’s quite fast, very powerful, he fouls a bit but also makes a lot of tackles and blocks and battles well for balls, off the ball he is very good, also his driving runs forward with the ball are very useful to release pressure, if we’d put on a weaker but more technical player like another winks that would’ve meant our balance wouldn’t have been as good. Also there’s a reason why he gets played a lot for France and also why poch plays him quite a bit, with the ball, agreed, not great and much room for improvement but he still offers a lot. I’d give him a 6 tonight some good bits some bad.

There has to be a better option out there. Yeah he works hard, yeah he's a great athlete but technically he is shocking. He close control is non existent, he looks terrified of the ball when he receives it with an opposition player close by. I appreciate he's trying his best for the team, it is just his best is nowhere near good enough.

He's played pretty well against several top-teams.
You don't draw vs Real M. away and beat them at home having a "hopeless" player in midfield.

Yeah, he’s clearly trusted by Poch to play an important role in midfield. He is pretty tireless. I get what people are saying about his technical abilities, but I think that’s partly confidence.

The Eriksen-Winks-Sissoko midfield came out on top against Kroos-Modric-Casemiro over two legs. That's a sentence I never thought I'd be writing.

Sissoko is an engine, and is becoming reliable in the centre. Had a good season if you ask me.

Touch of a rapist* still, mind...

*A joke, I don't find rape, assault etc funny...

Stood out last night, but not for the right reasons. I think in recent weeks he has shown there is a place for him to be effective within this squad, but I'd hope once everyone is fit he'd be a bench option at most. I think Poch is affording him so much game time atm because of his strength and energy, but when Vic is back he will easily reclaim that spot alongside WInks, with Dembele being the natural cover.

Fuck me, some of you have so much shit in your eyes you'd think an elephant just took a dump on your heads.

His pass, disguised as a scuffed shot, to put Kane in on goal last night was fucking sublime and skill of the highest order, on the biggest stage in a massive, massive game. MoM for me. Does it really hurt to give a little credit now and again or are you all so busy trying to look like football connoisseurs that you can't see how muggy you're making yourselves look.

If we get Barkley in Jan I think Sissoko will be way out of the picture. Still baffled why we singed him but he's done fairly well a few times. Reminds me of Zokora which isn't all bad.
