I was so happy that he had a good game against Madrid.

I always had this gut feeling about him even back when Bentaleb was looking like a nailed on starter than Winks had that potential from what I'd heard and read about him.

You just can't beat having your own youth players coming into the team and absolutely smashing it - so much more satisfying than being money whores like Chelsea or Manchester City!

Here's hoping Walker-Peters can follow them in next and start establishing himself as a real option (which will be a bit tougher for him as Trippier is starting to step up again and Aurier is also in his way).

Any maybe also Sterling would be a good option to give game time too as we seem to struggle with purchasing external strikers?

Spurs supporting boys (I'm pretty sure?) who just give so much more to the club.

I think in the coming years he will begin to make that surge forward from deep in midfield a sort of trademark of his.

It was visible again on a number of occasions last night. It's so effective, and exactly what we miss with Dembele (who I also like).

We have 2 club trained players in our side with world class potential. And mini messi hasnt even broken through yet. That feels so good to say. What an academy we've got! La Masia be damned!

Wrt Winks. I've run out of superlatives for him. I love him
The other positive spin on this is the fact you have a bunch of players who will bleed for the club. There'll be no downing tools, no lack of commitment and nothing but pure love for the club. That is what makes a great tore, a talented core that would do anything to win something for the club that they love. Their attitude will undoubtedly rub off on players coming in to the club.

just wanted to mention how brilliant he was for our third goal. To be able to pick his head up on the edge of his own box and play a quick accurate forward forcing ball to Alli that set us away. He didnt get the assist but he played a massive creative part in shaping the chance.

Very Similar for the first goal, that ball to Trips was class

If it's ice hockey, he'll get an assist for that pass.

I posted this on the England thread, but it really belongs here:

If there's one thing that Southgate should be taking away from last night, it's that Harry Winks needs to be made an essential part of his squad. It's hard to imagine that he missed what was in front of his face.

England desperately need exactly what Winks offers: vision, precision, subtlety and calm. I can't say I'm surprised. One look at Winks in his first season was enough to see his rare ability with the weight on each ball, the way his passes arrive at the receiving player at the right angle, the way his passes roll smoothly instead of bouncing erratically.

The game slows down for him. It's the distinguishing feature of no other English midfielder who is available. The squad is full of bustle and physicality and pace. It needs that quiet centre to run the show. More Carrick than Gerrard.

He does everything that Dembele never even sees. He has to be first choice , especially for big games

As good as Dembele is at dribbling, passing the ball forward quickly will always be more efficient for breaking teams down. Winks is a stunner, our very own Paul Schoales.

It appears that Mr Southgate has been reading my post ;)

Ok yesterday was too much. I managed to keep my cool last week after the draw at the Bernabeu, but bossing Modric and Kroos twice in a week got me over the edge.

Just bought a #29 home jersey.

Great performance. Nice knowing we have a player putting in that level of performance who if he hadn’t been on the pitch, probably would have been in the stands singing his head off

just a pet peeve.....we don't have to pull down our players to build others up. Dembele and Winks are very different, both brilliant but are at different phases of their career. Dembele is a massive part of what we have achieved with Poch but his body is failing him a bit. Winks is the future with luck but let's give him the space and time to grow.
