All the papers reporting Winks and Kane have been withdrawn!

Great news. Two pointless friendlies they can do without

Good. Southgate will learn nothing from those 2 playing. We need to get our players fit. Squad has taken some hits in the last week.

I generally hate international breaks but I seem to be warming to this one. Perfect timing.

Just heard on Sky Sports that Harry Kane and Winks have both withdrawn from the squad! Apparently they've been assessed by England physios as well.

Southgate deciding on whether to call up replacements.

Looks like they will get a rest after all

They need to scrap int'l breaks and just play all internationals in the summer. Have the season run from Sep-Apr and have a May-Jun/Jul qualifying period/ tournament

Well hopefully it’s good news, rest and recovery needed. Rather than injuries that will keep them out of the next PL game.

As long as it isn't down to a worse injury than originally feared

Exactly, I know united have a history of pulling players due to “injury” and then they were available next League game, but this is not something we as a club have ever done, so let’s hope it is just for R&R and no serious underlying issue

I can't believe common sense has prevailed. Maybe Southgate isn't as bad as I thought!

I think Southgate and England recognise there is nothing to be gained in risking Kane after picking up a knock yesterday off the back of minor hamstring trouble as well.

Furthermore , they'll be acutely aware of not wanting Kane burnt out come May/June time.

Rest makes sense for all parties, its a long old season.

Happy Winks isn't playing. Kid needs a break.

Let's all just pray they'll all be back bar obviously Toby but this is Spurs so it wouldn't surprise me if all 3 didn't make it for the NLD.

3 being Kane, Dele & Winks? Just leaves Alderweirald, Lloris and Wanyama.

That would be awesome. Makes too much sense for FIFA to ever consider it though.

The cynic in me thinks the England physios thing is bollox, probably all agreed between Poch and Southgate on Sunday to let them rest, Southgate knows Poch is the one manager he should be keeping sweet and fucking right too.
I'd send Harry away for a few days in the sun, the lad deserves a break.

Kane had his hamstring problem, now a nasty looking twisted knee.
Winks took a whack on his ankle; not sure if it was the one weakened by his ligament injury at Burnley in April.

Both are likely to be central to Southgate's plans. Kane's a given who would seemingly play every game if given the choice.
Winks will start for England, trust me. He's so different, only wilshere comes close. But he'll want to play in the friendlies to cement his place.

Poch & Southgate need to put their mind at ease about the next 10 days & explain how important they'll be next June.

Great idea in theory .But you can’t have a World Cup in starting mid June when you don’t even know who’s qualified.Could do it in non tournament years though.
