He made a mistake? loiooool. He came across as a selfish, self-entitled prick. As well as a bit thick if he really thought mouthing off in the press was gonna get him what he wanted. I'm sorry but I can't forgive a guy who disrespected the club, fans and his team mates like that.

He knew exactly what he was doing and he fucked up! If you remember his apology it was more along the lines of "I apologise for the timing of the comments" he didn't actually apologise for what he said. That tells me he is still set on moving as he isn't going to be getting 140k-150k from Levy.

As I said, I will support him when he's in the team but fully expect him to be moved on at the end of the season.
What he said certainly wasn't wise but he strikes me as somebody who just speaks his mind. Sometimes it is good, sometimes not. If the other players and loch can forgive him, so can I.

I wouldnt be surprised if poch had a word with him and said if you're professional, knuckle down, are no longer a distraction and work as hard as you can then I'll let you move on in the summer.

No way does rose stay with us after the next summer's window imo.

For us to keep him we would have to be sure he is worth a place in the team. Not a done deal with the brilliant way Ben Davies has played. The problem with selling is that we would strengthen a rival. Need to extract the maximum fee if he does go.

Gareth Southgate has been first-class during my lay-off, says Danny Rose
• Tottenham player did rehab at England training centre after knee injury
• Called up for this week’s friendlies, Rose says the ‘end goal’ is World Cup

Nobody had expected it, least of all Danny Rose. It was Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu three weeks ago, the score was 1-1 and there were 10 minutes to go.

Rose had not played since January. He had been through hell with a knee injury. His very inclusion in the squad had been a surprise; the left-back was supposed to be out for a little longer – but now Mauricio Pochettino wanted to make a substitution and he wanted it to be Rose.

“I thought him putting me on against Real Madrid, even though it was only for 10 minutes, was a class act on his part,” Rose said. “It made me feel a part of it again. He didn’t need to bring me on.”

Rose played in midfield, on the left of a central trio, to reinforce the impression Pochettino had been determined to shoehorn him in somehow, anyhow; in order to give him a boost.

It felt even more significant in light of how Rose had agitated in August with his notorious and candid interview in The Sun, in which he criticised the club’s wage structure and transfer policy.

Rose apologised but was fined and it was easy to wonder whether he had blotted his copybook indelibly with Pochettino, who has taken a dim view previously when players have stepped out of line. There appears to be no lingering bad blood, even if it is not always easy to tell with Pochettino.

The Argentinian places enormous importance on the notion of faith and Gareth Southgate has followed his lead where Rose in concerned. When the England manager named his squad last Thursday for the friendlies against Germany and Brazil, Rose had made only one post-Bernabéu appearance – he started in Tottenham’s Carabao Cup defeat by West Ham United. Southgate still called him up.

“It was a big positive for me,” Rose said. “Gareth knows I have not played much football but he knows what I am capable of. My end goal is to be part of that World Cup squad and I can only do that by playing regularly for my club.

“I have spoken to Gareth a lot. I did a bit of my rehab at the England training centre. I was around him for three weeks and we had dinner together most days and spoke pretty much every day. He has called me and texted me. He has been first-class.

“I went there [to St George’s Park] for a change of scenery. I had spent a long time in the same treatment room and it got a bit much. It was nice that the England manager was up for me going there. It helped me mentally.”

Rose damaged a medial ligament in his left knee at Sunderland on 31 January but it was never anticipated he would be out for so long. He underwent surgery on 16 May. “There are literally no words to describe how frustrating it has been – especially last season, seeing the football the lads were playing and how close they went to catching Chelsea [for the title],” Rose said.

“Even this season, sitting on the bench against Real Madrid at Wembley last Wednesday – that wasn’t nice. It is nice that we won but it is not nice when you want to be part of it.”

Rose started in Tottenham’s win over Crystal Palace on Sunday but it was plain that he remained short of his top level. “He wasn’t at his best, as you can see,” Pochettino said. “He needs to go step by step.”

Rose added: “I am not 100% yet. I have only had a couple of weeks of training so I probably still need another month of training and playing games.”

From Rose’s point of view the falling out over the controversial interview is in the past, although he remains a hot subject for the rumour mill. He has been linked with a January move to Manchester United.

“It is forgotten and I think it is forgotten on the club’s point as well,” Rose said. “I don’t think there is any relationship-building needed with the fans. They showed me that against Real Madrid, away. I was wary of the reception I was going to get but it was brilliant. I think they have forgiven me.

“Me and the gaffer are fine. We speak most days. The lads will tell you that over the last three years I am the one in his office the most, speaking to him and going through videos and sharing text messages – even going round to his house. As long as we’ve both got the same goals, which is to win a trophy for Tottenham, then there’s nothing to worry about.”

For me, I'd strengthen that last paragraph to that I look forward to him moving on, as it will be better for the team

Let me see if i understand this... We can slag him off when he reaches the age of 30 and starts to slow down and becomes ineffective to the team....we can demand he be sold and not honour his contract.

He just cannot attempt to engineer a move to a club willing to pay him what he thinks he is worth, in the peak of his short career. Neither can he express himself on his wishes....

Btw his comments havent affected team morale, has it?
Considering we pay him more than what most people earn in a year per week. Yeah, yeah we can.

He is an asset that diminishes over time, a bit like saying you would sell something perishable. Our big bad football club didn't force him to sign a new contract, he did it because he thought it was the best offer at the time. So considering we are making the guy rich for kicking around a football and allowing him to earn huge additional money in image rights. Yeah we are entitled to have a different opinion about him and his value than he does.

I honestly think Rose was spending loads of time on this forum during his time out and got caught up in all the complaining about lack of signings etc and then had is mate Kyle showing him all the snap back hats he could now afford on his big new wages and basically threw a temper tantrum- most footballers are man child’s

I would hope there is a path back for him as he is quality and people make mistakes - I guess a lot of self righteous guys on here that think they know everything saying he can F off have never made a mistake in their lives - was stupid what he did but footballers have done a lot worse and he was voicing a not uncommon opinion at the time albeit the google comments were stupid and he went to a rag journal. Immature more than anything

Interview in the standard tonight worth a read

About rehab at St George’s Park: “it gave me a break from the club. It was a big stressful for me there. Seeing the same faces every day. I have been impressed, jealous and angry watching Tottenham’s games”

I don’t know if you’ve copied and pasted that directly from the Standard but he didn’t say those things in that order all at once. They’ve made it sound like he’s massively negative but in fact there was a lot of positives from the interview even within those replies above. The impressed, jealous, angry thing came from a different question about how he felt watching us beat Madrid on Wednesday and me made it clear he was only angry because he wasn’t playing. And the seeing the same faces thing, he also mentioned that seeing the same 4 walls at the same gym every day was getting him down so he needed a change.

Not a pop at you obviously, just the standard for the way they’ve put that together.

They’ve run it as a whole paragraph, like above

Thought it was fairly obvious that he was angry at not playing, wasn’t trying to suggest anything else

Yeah, was just making the point that they’ve put 2 different answers from 2 different questions into one answer whilst leaving out other parts of his replies, making that paragraph look much more negative than it was.

For clarification:

Q: Judging how Tottenham have played this season, you must have been impressed watching from the sidelines?

A: "Yes impressed, jealous, you know, angry. I've been through a whole load of emotions over this past 9 months. I've just been itching to get going for the past couple of weeks and I'm just grateful that I'm back in amongst it now."

Q: How quickly did you regain your appetite for football?

A “I came here (training with England) to give me a break from my club because it was a bit stressful for me there seeing the same faces every day, the same four walls, the same gym. I lost my appetite. I came here worked, and went back and started training again. Once I was back training, I fell in love with football again.”

Anyone who knows Danny will find he is extremely down to earth, and very polite. As I said before when he was getting a pounding, to cut him some slack. Was fully aware of his mental state. The club did not even fine him, but offered him help which he took.
