Very disheartening result. We seem to be regressing of late and Mauricio appears not to have an idea how to stop the rot. Of course as fans we always want the team to win but against WBA and Leicester our defense has looked lethargic and our front line are missing too many chances. I wonder if a) the Danny Rose saga is affecting the players morale b)
Well, I wonder if letting Rose get away with it has made players lose a little respect for him.

We've only scored in the first half of four of the fourteen PL games this season....

450 minutes without a single goal to show is shameful.

Three games. Three missed chances. Theee times players going with the wrong foot. Alli v Man United to make it 1-0. Eriksen (?) v West Brom to make it 2-1. Lorente v Leicester to make it 2-2.

Sloppy mistakes. Technical breakdowns rather than psychological ones which have cost us points.

We will be lucky to finish in the top 6 at this rate.

We are now very poor defensively, we concede in most matches.

We are also very poor as an attacking side, we rarely score more than one goal.

These things together mean we will win very few matches.

A hallmark of Spurs teams over the past two years is that we played with an incredible intensity and tempo, the Bournemouth, Utd, Palace, Arsenal, West Brom and Leicester games have all been very similar in the sense that we play with almost 0 intensity and let the opposition set the pace of the game, we don't press and are very easy to get behind and score against if the opposition tries to.

Part of the reason is that I think most or indeed all of our main players have had their heads turned. We let Kyle Walker go to City, he will walk the PL earning triple the money, our other players see this and (rightly) want that too.

Danny Rose was 100% right with everything we said at in the summer and the failure to heed his warning is coming home to roost. Walker, Rose, Dier and Alli are all friends, they will know what he is getting paid and they also know they won't get that at Spurs and because of that their heads have gone and their form has nose-dived. Eriksen too now looks disinterested.

I think Poch has lost control of this group of players, we will struggle in the league for the rest of the season and all of those listed, along with Eriksen and Toby will move on in the summer.

If we are lucky we will keep Poch, Kane, Jan and Hugo and have to rebuild again in the summer.

Being honest I am not sure I can really be bothered to watch another cycle that is set up to fail as we never invest when we are on the crest of a wave.

I really, really hope I'm wrong.

Fucking hell Dave, bit strong mate :ROFLMAO:

At the time I wasn't bothered by it but now I just find it cringeworthy.

I kinda love it, think it's hilarious. Tim Time was a dark period and what better way to get through it than self-deprecating humour?

My favourite was when we were losing 4-0 at Anfield and they did the "Let's pretend we scored a goal" celebration, absolutely love that one:

Gone to shite since Tobes got injured.
I think he may have to go to a flat back four, but I think that Dier needs to be dropped. I'm tempted to not rotate the fullbacks every game, because both Aurier and Rose need minutes. It may explain why they both improved in the second halves of their last two games. Then again, it would seem that it would be rewarding Rose for kicking off. People get annoyed with Sissoko, but he's not a natural goal scorer and tried to steady himself, thus allowing Schmeichel time to get set. I also thought that Lloris made the wrong move to come out towards Vardy; he seems leaden footed of late.

We're fucked. I can just picture it. We'll dump out in the first CL knockout, end up 6th in the PL and Poch will leave for a big club. Then it's good old mediocre Spurs again.

Yes, I'm a pessimist

Not saying you're wrong but what, exactly, have you seen of Foyth that makes you pick him in your side every week? He's only played a League Cup game hasn't he?

Because he's clearly beyond his years; a natural footballer; would have mouse next to him and 3 CB's behind him; has the full passing package - good vision, great long piercing passes on the ground, accurate long balls - is fearless, composed, fast and would give Matic a problem he needs to have.

I wouldn't have a problem putting him there; I think he'd deal with the occasion.

I think we have blown our chance to win anything with this group of players, I can hear people saying it now "kneejerk!" but seriously, hear me out.

The manner of our performances in the league is worrying, it's not the results per say, it's the manner in which we are playing, we are lacking fight, belief, care or urgency, all the things we have been known for under Poch have only shown themselves in the CL games this year and that tells me a number of things.

1.We do not have the depth to fight in multiple competitions.

2.Players have given up on the league and as a result the players are not putting the effort in, our pressing is non existent and we have been figured out tactically as well,

3.Some of our players are not fully committed right now, you can tell and I am willing to bet more than a few are already thinking of moving after seeing what Walker is doing this season, to think otherwise would be delusional, get paid more for less strenuous work and get trophies?

Even the most optimistic of spurs fans must know that unless we are moving forwards constantly our top players will go, the promise of trophies are probably the only thing keeping them here right now.

I think Poch has got a big job on his hands to get these players motivated now, we aren't in a title race and many of them probably won't be wanting to fight for a 4th placed finish, our only hope of trying to get something positive from this season is the FA Cup or winning the CL, the latter of which is looking a very difficult task right now.

Personally I don't think the players give a shit right now (other than Harry and a few others) if they did they would have addressed the sloppy start we made against WBA and rectified that against Leicester, instead it was more of the same.

I feel for Poch because I think he is trying his best to get them going but he seems unable to do so right now, the fact he almost seemed desperate for Lamela to come back in hope it might inspire us is even more concerning.

We have to stop the rot and stop it quick because this is pretty alarming form as things stand, worst I have seen us under Poch in terms of commitment.

Why are we allowing these teams to take the lead , take 2 goal leads . It's really really poor, we should be taking the lead and letting them come at us . It's shameful

In the past two seasons there was an indestructible air to the team. They just didn’t got two down. And when they went a goal down, they roared back. There isn’t the same feel this season.

The sloppy defeat to Chelsea; the lapses in concentration against United and Burnley; the inability to handle Arsenal’s press; and going two down to Leicester in 45 minutes.

Now every game looks tricky. Watford away? Don’t fancy that.

We can analyse the reasons why to death but I think it was Ferguson who said teams go in three year cycles. We’re kind of at that point. It doesn’t require wholesale changes but perhaps some of the key players we relied on need refreshing.

It also hasn’t helped losing Wanyama and Alderweireld - whose negotiation position for a lucrative contract must have improved - to long term injury.

But for all the criticisms of our attack - which are overblown - it’s central midfield that’s a problem. We don’t move the ball in the midfield fast enough, making it hard for our attackers to carve out opportunities. We’re also not as imposing. Now whether that’s a personnel or confidence issue is for Poch to work out.

But either way this season is quickly falling away from high hopes to hopeless. The bigger budgets are starting to make the difference.
