The major football podcasts were reminding us again after the Liverpool game that there's a reason everything usually goes tits up in Mourinho's third season at any club. Once the players start to grow tired of his methods it tends to spiral out of control very quickly.
Was that the Totally Football Podcast?

These quotes had me chuckling-

Meanwhile, Mourinho has claimed United fans are within their rights to boo him after his decision to substitute Marcus Rashford for Anthony Martial was jeered.

Mourinho added: “They pay the ticket they can do what they want. They can boo a player that doesn’t deserve to be booed, they can boo a player who is working like an animal, even though the game is not going in his direction.

"They can boo – they pay their tickets, they can boo the manager.”

It might have been, I often listen to that and Football Weekly back to back so I sometimes get muddled as to who said what.

Again, one of them, and despite it only being two hours since I finished listening to them I don't remember which, today remarked that it's very Mourinho to start a fight with his own fans, discussing his Lukaku comments, and another reason why he never makes it past three seasons at a club.

I've just gone back and checked, and yes, it was something you said in the Serie A thread which brought the existence of that show to my attention. I listened to a couple of episodes at the weekend and really enjoyed it. Cheers! (y)

An altercation after the Manchester derby sees Mourinho covered in milk and water.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42306141

The Manchester City team did consider throwing flour too, but felt that would be unfair as they'd already battered him once that day.

Well, apparently someone threw a bottle on Mourinho's head. Chief suspect is Lukaku after his game yesterday.:cautious::rolleyes:

Just been listening to Sky Sports talking about the fracas in the tunnel between UTD and City.

Says Mourinho had water and milk thrown at him.

That'll be the tea time kick off.

Mourinho is poison. It amazes me that big clubs still hire him.

TBF he is doing a better job than Moyes and LVG did. He consistently wins trophies which is why the top teams want him.

Under LVG they bought Di Maria, Shaw, Herrera, Rojo, Blind, Falcao, Schneiderlein, Depay, Schweinsteiger and Darmian. You could argue only Herrera and Darmian have been positive signings during his reign.

Moyes bought Fellaini, Mata, Varela and Janko.

So Mourinho has a fair amount of deadwood to get rid of. He has brought in Mikhtarian, Bailly, Pogba, Ibrahimovic, Matic and Lukaku. The quality of the signings has surely improved and so have their results.

Even if people don't like him surely they can see how much Utd are improving under him.

He has a short-term approach though. His Chelsea side could have had De Bruyne and Lukaku if he had any interest in developing players.

he's a good manager for sure. but he invariably pisses somebody off and leaves after 3 or 4 years. and while he has been an improvement at United he left Madrid and Chelsea worse off.

I agree he has a short-term success rate. After Moyes and LVG I believe the Utd fans will be fine with him for a couple more seasons.

Chelsea have had by far their most success under Mourinho though.

first time around. I liked Mourinho until about 6 or 7 years ago. Personally I think he has a personality disorder with his constant need to insert himself into the middle of any story and inability to get along with people for more than a few years. Thats why I say he's poison - people with PDs eventually suck the life out of you.
