Like it's Chelsea London or London West Ham.

It's Atleti, look it up. Maybe it's a Spanish thing.

There's also no club called Inter Milan. An English thing. It's Internationale.

Yeh but I thought it was pretty clear considering Toby was a Atlético Madrid player that I wouldn't have to differentiate, clearly I was wrong. ITs absolutely nothing like Chelsea London or London West Han because London isn't in there team name.

Sure, Atleti took less money from Spurs than Southampton. Those mugs there, eh, letting players dictate transfer fees to them. What's that thing kids used to do? "Chinny, chin chin" mimicking Jimmy Hill.

Les Reed is Sporting Director(or similar), not remotely CEO. Telling the fans what they want to hear.

Southampton could have bought Alderwield for £6.9m in June 2015, they failed to meet the deadline, we paid £11.5M, are you fucking high? A sporting Director would be privy to exactly what went on in a transfer dealing.

Sounds like Les Reed and co must have been high.

"Dudes, we gotta meet that Madrid deadline".

"No way, Les. It's Madrid. They gifted VDV to Spurs for peanuts. If we hang on it'll be only £5m. Pass the toke, Les".

Clearly you have never heard of the world's biggest club, Real Madrid. Are you feeling down? That imaginary £150m plus Bale bid would explain it.

Atleti are renowned for selling their players at a low price, aren't they? I remember when they sold a few players to Chelsea, but only took half the price they could have got.

That's probably one of the most confusing pages I've ever read on SpursCommunity, and that's saying something!!

The thing is as I have said, he wants a release clause for a reason, that reason is he would more than consider a move to a bigger club. I am pretty sure that this is the problem, Levy doesn't want to give up a signing on bonus and a higher wage for him just to run off once his buyout clause is met, we know Levy is no mug.

Oh and I love Toby too but look what he did to Southampton, a club where he basically rebuild his career.

Fucking ding dong.

Honestly amazes me the amount of head up arse, delusional naivety shown by what seems like reasonably intelligent people when it comes to football, particularly the financial or non pitch stuff.

Fans of clubs seem incapable of grasping that football doesn’t exist entirely in a bubble exempting it from basic human and economic principles.

We all recognise the qualities of Alderweireld, but cries of “just break the wage structure Levy” are stupid. There is a wage structure for a reason, and those reasons aren’t arbitrary, if you break it for one player, there is no more structure.

And on a footballing perspective it’s really not a catastrophe. We’ve just added a fantastic looking CB in Sanchez. But we also have Dier. When Alderweireld was Dier’s age he was no better. In fact he couldn’t even get a game at AM as a CB most weeks, he had to take a loan move to Mid table Southampton to revive his career.

Dier is the absolute perfect, almost facsimile, replacement for Alderweireld, but probably even ahead of TA’s development curve.
