I'm still not on board with this idea that he is a risk, it's not like we are likely to pay an enormous amount and if he turns out to be only 80% of the player he might have been without the injury, which is extremely unlikely anyway, we'd still make a profit on him by selling him to Stoke or some similar club.
His career is not over, that just ain't going to be the case.

Wage will be a fair whack I'd imagine.

Why do people on here care about how much he would get in wages and the risk factor etc.....you guys arent BDM's or Directors for Spurs lol. I only care about the talent we would get and imo he would be worth a purchase in Jan.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

All this with a pinch of salt as we really dont know what happened with Chelsea and if it was us who made him stall the deal but if it was, then the current (info from trix anyway) makes no sense just because he is a few weeks behind schedule.

I was back on forth on him in the summer but he is young and i think impressionable enough to be moulded and he has a lot of quality, and i hope now we are in for him as if its not now then he will go elsewhere IMO

Can anyone remember the reasons Trix said he mentioned before as to why he doesn't this will happen?

I seem to recall him playing there against us I think last year and having a excellent game
Might of been the year before but I think it was at the lane
Yeah I remember this. He definitely played deeper and like you say he was class. Constantly kept the ball ticking over playing some lovely passes and really looked after the ball well in general.

I’m not sure he’s got the ability to do much of a defensive job ala Dembele but in terms of playmaking ability he certainly has the ability to play in CM. We wouldn’t play him in there without Big Vic or Dier next to him anyway, so I don’t see any issue. I personally don’t think you need two DM’s even against the top sides. Players with ability to keep the ball under pressure are important in those matches and Barkley can certainly do that

I think Barkley would need 6 months plus to get used to our system anyway, he's always been very talented but Everton fans think his decision making can be very sketchy at times. It'd be very risky to drop him into a dembele type role immediately, even aside from the injury.

Also, not sure why he'd think he'd get more gametime at Chelsea, they're the worst for buying players then not using them

I think he said he was expected back in training November early December but as he wasn't back until some weeks later we are not going for him this January, or until we know he is recovered.
Trix might put more flesh on those bones but that's how I remember it.

Because if money wasn't a factor we'd be offering £50m and an extra 200 grand a week for Sanchez. Unfortunately we've got limited funds for transfers and wages and we can't afford to waste it on players with long term injury issues.

Because through the power of basic observation most of us have seen well-run clubs do well and badly run clubs do badly.

We are discussing one player not total finances on a grander scale. Some people talk like they are involved at board level which is quite frankly embarrassing and many of us see that using 'basic observation."

The "one player" has an impact on other areas we may need strengthening in. No idea what you find embarrassing.

From Everton forum:

I understand that but he played in the behind the scenes game last week, albeit none u23 games so we'll see if he's involved in their next one

They also said he’s not been going Goodison park which you’d assume now he’s back close to playing he would be

I'm expecting an announcement of a pre-contract signed with us and then we'll keep testing the water with Everton to see if we can get him in January, much like Lewis Holtby

In my eyes, Everton would be foolish to not accept some money for a player that would be leaving for free in the summer.

Of course, I could be very wrong but him not signing for Chelsea kinda tells me he wants to come here and Levy will squeeze every last penny out of the deal

He can’t sign a pre contract with a club in England, only abroad
