Given Poch record at Southampton too, this talk is near blasphemy...

Hmm what I mean is Poch always talks about that the academy is so important but the truth is that he doesn’t give the academy players a real chance. That’s just my opinion

The better a squad is, and ours lest we forget is one of the six best in this country and 15 best in Europe, the harder it is for academy players to get a look in as they have to show a higher level of performance to get a game for us than at most other clubs. I don't question Poch's willingness for a second, especially given his record at So'ton.

I see what you’re saying but Poch can’t keep saying how academy players are so important when he doesn’t give them a real chance. And other top 6 clubs have still played academy players more than us. And imo some academy players are better than some players we have in the first team

I think the response was pointing out your opinion was wide-of-the-mark.
Mostly due to the fact he did give academy players a real chance...(not opinion)

And if we don’t keep him Liverpool inflating the market by another 50% will be music to Levy’s ears...

But not as good!

Keeping Danny Rose would be great business. Yeah he was a dick in the summer but he's was the best left back in the league until his injury. Not singling you out at all but some fans seem to forget this.

If we manage to get Barkley for around £20 million and also secure Sessegnon either now or in the summer that will be a really fantastic January window. I don't get why some people are underwhelmed by this.
Have you seen the photo of the 10 inch scar on Barkley’s hamstring. I think we would want to see him playing for the rest of the season before signing him

Transfers are always linked to “subject too’s...” with insurance wraps-indemnities etc. Doesn’t matter who the buying club that agrees any fee with toffees, it would come with this clause. So in other words, your argument does not apply here.

Not even chavs would sign him if his medical shows concerns, as they would find it an arduous task to commit an insurer at this level.

I support Poch and Levy and I think by and large we operate well and punch above our weight.

That said, the fact that we are an outlier in term of wages and transfer fees in the top 6 means that it's even more important to us that our transfer activity pays off, because we simply can't throw endless amounts of money around like the others if things don't work out.

That means we really need to take our opportunities when they arise for players that we really want. It's disappointing to hear about Zaha being a potential missed opportunity (if we indeed blew our chances). Hopefully Sessegnon won't fall into that category; I have no doubt that some of the big clubs are interested in him too, and I think he could actually do a job for us now on the left of midfield.

Also, I'd be fine with us selling Trippier and promoting KWP.

The reality is that even a youth forward coach at a top 6 club is going to have a much more difficult time bringing academy players through. His record at Southampton is irrelevant.

Liverpool just played Burnley with Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, and Solanke (with Woodburn on the bench). Two of those are academy kids and two are professional signings (but were brought in as 18 and 19 year old players).

Even United played with Rashford, Lingard, and Tuanzebe in the lineup yesterday.

I'm just saying that we aren't way out in front or behind these other top 6 clubs. And it's certainly not "blasphemy" to question whether we're bringing enough academy kids through.

It's somewhat tricky with Barkley. You could understand Levy wanting us to try and convince the kid to come in the summer at no cost rather than pay out possibly 15-20m now when he might have zero impact on this season. With that said, if we made the player assurances last summer which convinced him to pass on a move to Chelsea (which does seem to be the case) then we should honour that and bring him in now.

Whilst I have often been one to back Levy and I'm happy with what he's done overall, he's been far too tentative in most transfer windows, leading to last day deals and that ultimately having an impact resulting in players taking too long to get up to speed.

We're in a crucial period ahead of moving into the new stadium and whilst teams around us are making statements with player signings we need to try and be bold (as we were with Davinson Sanchez) on a more consistent basis. Not asking for multiple 50m plus signings but equally, 1 player of that ilk each summer window would be good to see, along with a few younger players like Kluivert, Sessegnon etc.

Based on the ITK it seems that across the January and Summer windows we would be looking at Kluivert and Sessegnon bros as the young player additions. Barkley as a bit of a "too good to pass up" kinda signing and then someone like Zaha in summer as that big money addition.
Given our circumstances I think this would prove to be an incredible window. Although Sessegnon, Zaha and Kluivert may be too many options for similar positions.

I’m serious but what I really meant was that if KWP doesn’t make it with us then I wouldn’t trust Poch giving academy players a real chance but I didn’t say that would happen. I hope I’m wrong but the truth is that he’s been here 4 years and Winks is the only player I can give 100% credit to. He should also get credit for making Kane a world class player but would he got the chance if Soldado or Adebayor performed well? Poch has said that he wished he had Dembele when he was younger and he has one in Onomah but is wasting him. So if KWP who’s apparently one of the best players in training and has been good when played and has Trippier who is very limited in front of him can’t get the chance who will?
Mason? Also put his faith in Bentaleb after Sherwood seemingly had lost his.

Mason only started for us 1 season, he got unlucky with the injury and then we sold him. Bentaleb should IMO still be here but we sold him thanks to the contract saga and he got injured. And it was Sherwood who brought him to the first team

£20m seems way too high for a player returning from serious injury who hasn't played for months and who will be a free agent in a few months time. Chelsea might throw cash at it but I can't see Levy being that reckless. I think it would be on the high side if he was fully fit, hadn't had major surgery and was ready to go.

£20m is next to nothing in todays market though.

Want to add, something I just realised I did not put in my post. I am sure, and believe that is where Poch is going with ‘get deals agreed quick...’

We WILL be spending big, not in the regions of citeh and chavs. We have eyes on some key big targets, if they can be done. Again; whilst I 99.99% do not believe this one will happen. RM are talking to us about Bale, and Modric wants to come back. I highly doubt either will happen, but more RM pushing, especially Bale.

We want to make a statement to ALL on moving into our stadium, along with sponsors etc. And on that note, we are prrry covered with big parties tendering their offers, along with a certain shirt sponsor. NFL especially is prepared to throw money at us, beyond 2 games, which in turn has got US sponsors falling over themselves. Asian market wants to join sponsorships as well.

Poch wants to be on par with scoucers in the forward alternative department, and a priority of his. I personally doubt Toby will be sold in summer, unless a crazy bid from a certain popular club is received. If-big if! He is sold, we will bring someone in from overseas, as UK market has inflated market for average players, much less ones we would want, like Mawson.

Please folks, stop using with no knowledge our financial restrictions, due to new stadium. COYS
