Good morning everyone!

So, already we have had a few really interesting updates and the thread seems to be running pretty smoothly so far.

The other day I was standing at my bedroom window and saw my neighbour's daughter topless in her bedroom. As I was bashing one out, I turned to notice Mrs A&C standing there, arms crossed and staring at me......Is she a pervert?

But that was nothing.....

I walked in with a bunch of flowers yesterday and Mrs A&C said, "Ok, what have you done now?"

"I slept with your sister," I replied.

"What? And you think a bunch of flowers are going to make me forgive you?" she screamed.

"What the fuck are you on about?" I replied. "They're for your sister."

Yeah, yeah, I know.........I'm a wonderful guy :stop:

Finally, Last week I had an e-mail from Daniel Levy complaining about my persistently making jokes about his height and calling him a dwarf. He said "I am not happy"

"Which one are you then?" I replied :woot:

Be good. Laters.

I guess the only thing that doesn't make sense to me so far is that "Sissoko is going nowhere" but "Gaffer really still wants Barkley". Certainly there is no need for both in the same squad. IMO, Barkley arrives, Sissoko departs the following window.

I personally think Sissoko is a decent option to have in the squad.

The most important bits are the sponsors. Players come and go but if we can become a financial powerhouse moving into our new stadium we can ensure we keep competing.

Agree sponsors will make us compete with the rest of Europe

After reading the Modric stuff from yesterday there is no way Poch signs him. it would go against every single move he's made in the TW. He doesnt look for older players, no matter how good they were for the club. Madrid wont sell him and he'll probably retire there.

Edit- I realized I missed Llorente

That's why we've got Llorente?

Would love to think we’d go for Modric. We took a £42m punt on Sanchez that worked out, I don’t think a similar outlay for a player that we could get three good years out of and increase our chances of winning a trophy is a massive risk.

Similar with Bale. His injury problems at RM will most likely have stemmed from the amount of muscle mass he’s piled on since joining RM. If he shed some of the muscle I think he would be less injury prone.

Again, I reckon £40m Bale and/or possibly write off some of what RM owe us from both could see us get them.

Wages would be an issue though.

One of our problems is that we’ve not had 16/17 players that could all conceivably be first XI, which is why we have struggled to compete across all four competitions. Bale and Modric would go some way to helping with that.

Conflicted on this. On one hand, Modric is still the best CM in the world, but at 32 would he be able to adapt to this high press and style that we play? Having him in a midfield 2 with Wanyama/Dembele would be insane!

Bale is tricky because he is obviously a club legend. I think our current shape with the 2 behind Kane relies less on him burning people for pace, whilst the 3 behind Kane would probably ask him to do that.

My only concern with bringing Bale back is that that leaves you with Bale, Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Sissoko and GKN as your options behind Kane, where I would say 2 have to go. Logic would say GKN for sure, then probably Lamela...as much as I love the guy, Poch loves Sissoko, and he evidently works hard!

It’s then the question of going for Bale or someone like Pulisic...we would probably be Bale’s last move, so 5/6 years there! Pulisic has the potential to be a world beater but realistically, we would probably not get his full career, unless we went on a huge trophy winning streak!

I'd take both back. To me, it wouldn't even be a question about "is it a wise decision in a 2-4 years perspective. To me, it would be about "would it increase our trophy chances in a 12 months perspective". I'd say yes.

Short termism but I can relate to the emotion :)

Hercs talk about the sponsorship is the most interesting - this sounds like its the step up summer with decent deals in place for NWHL, AIA and Nike (NFL and EPL with CL exposure) money should be available in never before seen amounts?

The big spanner in the works is the World cup. No decent transfer is going to be made for any player going to the world cup before the world cup finishes?

Surely Bale of Modric coming back would mean a shift in our pay structure..........do we believe this will happen as soon as stadium opens or will it take time?

Unfortunately GB11 doesn't have that problem.

I expect the stadium completion will see the purse strings opened within reason, but it will depend on sponsorships etc and good money management of the loans in the short term. If these are all nicely tied up, then there will be additional revenue to play with. Still, I can’t see us committing to older players, especially with injuries, like Bale.

The info seemed to suggest it was part of the opening gambit in the new stadium, imo.
