I'm with you on that one. I don't understand why it's just "accepted" that some players are completely one-footed. Unless you're so phenomenally brilliant with your one foot like Messi then I think it's inexcusable for an elite-level professional to not be able to use their other foot at least to a passable level. I know it's not exactly the same, but for me it's almost like a tennis player saying "Sorry, I don't do backhands - I just run around the ball and hit it on my forehand instead. It's got me this far". If they're that bad with their wrong foot then they should spend an hour after training each day doing drills to improve it. God knows they get paid enough and they only train a couple of hours a day so they've got plenty of bloody time!

EDIT - just wanted to point out I'm not specifically talking about Lamela, I meant players in general.
Would 'winner' this a million times if I could. And I have always excused Messi for this but in their most recent game v Espanyol he missed 2 gilt-edged chances because of it. And although Barca won 2-0 they really needed a third due to away goals.

And to the "two wrongs make a right" people, it is also unacceptable for right footers as well.

Uhmm, yes? Inconsistency doesn't mean bad, you know, it just means lack of consistency. We all know how good Son can be, but he often just shows that in patches. I love Son, and he has been amazing as of late, but what I meant in my previous post is that our main creativity front is certainly unreliable as it stand now (simply look how toothless we have looked in several matches through out the season), and I just can't see how getting rid of Lamela would make things better.

Yeah, I totally hope Moura and Malcolm come, but even then it would be foolish of us to part ways with Lamela. Fact is, we know how important Lamela can be for this team... Malcolm and Moura may get the job done, or may flop.
Yeah definitely agree that I would hate to see Lamela sold. Not a criticism of your post at all. Overall Son has been in and out of form when talking about his Spurs career. I was just thinking that of late he has been pretty consistent. Thanks for helping me out with the whole 'consistent' v 'bad' definition though. It's all very confusing.

Think he has more than justified at being a starter over Ali lately, might wake Ali up a bit.

I think Son, Lamela and Eriksen may be a good trio behind Kane

I would be equally critical of any player that exclusively used his right and refused to even trap the ball with his left which Lamela refuses to even do. Someone else mentioned Dele and I had a look at a video. He uses his left to dribble, control and then get it on his right. We all have opinions I guess.
I had a look at a video of Lamela as well and he dribbled, controlled, passed and scored goals with his right.

Whilst he undoubtedly favours his left to say he's "one footed" is simply wrong.

Love that idea. For sure Alli does need a metaphorical kick up the backside.

I really hope Son manage to stay at his current form (or, better said, his previous form before that Southamptom's game)... he would become just as important to us as Harry Kane.

Gave you the funny rating because of that last line BTW. :D

It'll be a massive mistake to let Lamela go. Fully fit he's in my strongest 11 with Eriksen Alli Kane.

Lamela brings an aggressive workrate and energy to the team.

If he stays fit he won't be sold.
What happens if one the 3 behind gets injured or suspended or loses form?
Moura or Malcom might not make it in the EPL.

Who are these people?

Honestly, tell me, who was the last right footed player constantly criticised for not using his left foot more? I can't think of any, yet you hear it all the time for left footed players.

I hit Dele with it all the time. Most of the goals his misses are because he can't use his left foot (and his right ain't that great either but that's a whole 'nother can of worms I would prefer not to open again...at this moment :X3:).

But on our team name a right-footed player that doesn't utilize his left foot when necessary? Harry? No. Sonny? No. Eriksen? No. Dier? No. Vic? No. Serge? No. Are you seeing a pattern? Now let's look at the lefties use of their right foot - this is gonna be fun. Mousa? Lamela? Hugo? Danny? Jan? Davies? What's that pattern look like? Perhaps this is why you don't hear about righties because all of our can and do but our lefties don't or can't.

Look through the league and pick out lefties and gauge how much they use their right foot. You get some real humdingers like David Silva (who I love) but he does the 'Scotty Parkers' to get back to his left. Mata? Tadic? Sane? Ozil? Wilshit? Salah? These are real left-footed people that can barely walk such is their disregard for their right side.

You see, the issue IMO is that lefties are usually really 'leftie' whereas the right-footed players are always taught to utilize their left even if that teaching is perfunctory. Youth teams are usually so happy to have a left footed/sided player that they don't get the coaching reinforcement...IMVHO.

That's because lefties are the spawn of Beelzebub.

And you, indeed, would be the best judge of that. Well argued and well reasoned counterargument. You've done yourself proud again. Keep it up.

Does it need explaining? You're suggesting coaches either do not bother, or aren't able to teach left footed players to use both feet. Left footed players aren't taught to use their right? Nonsense. This is just the new thing to pick on Lamela about.

I loved coco playing for us before the injury, although I think we're gonna part ways in the summer. It's not about his performance on the pitch, but it seems like he still has some issues with adaptaion and is not super happy to live in London.

"You can only kick with one foot at a time, otherwise you fall on your arse" - notorious lefty Ferenc Puskás.

A very one footed righty we're all very familiar with is one Luka Modrić, who has such skill with the outside of his right he needn't bother with his left.

On topic, selling Érik would be madness.
