We smashed them last year...and the year before.
We did and the 3-0 was more comprehensive in scoreline.

But United were just really really bad last night. 6 shots all night. Spent most of the night chasing shadows and being harried off the ball. Kicked out of play and missed passes all night. The only time they strung 5 passes together was when they were passing around their shitty back 4.
Had we had our shooting boots on that would have been our biggest ever win against them.

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

Last night, QED.

the away form table is everywhere but the curiosity over the home table is that we have had some excellent wins the last 3 years:
last season home wins against Citeh, Utd, Arse, Chelski and a draw against Pool. This year wins against Pool and Utd and a daft loss to Chelski.
Season 2015-2016: Home: wins against Utd, Citeh and away against Citeh and a load of draws home and away against the rivals....of course the one big loss being Leicester.
@ClintEastwould and @Davo99 what is so outrageous about this post?

Fat fingers mate. Either way, I never understand why people get so sensitive about ratings.

Personally don't give a shit about the rating itself. But if someone gives you a disagree or wtf rating i am curious about what part of my post they disagree or don't understand.
If someone rates my post disagree then posts a reply thats fine you can have a discussion. It may be something i wasn't aware of or just plain got wrong. But if they don't post a reply it can be a bit annoying or confusing.

It's almost as though the best teams in the country, who are also among the best in the world, rarely lose home matches...

I remember the 1962 game when we beat them 6-2 (Greaves hat-trick). On that day we hit the woodwork six times.

We beat Dortmund we were good but.......they were poor
We beat Madrid we were good but........they were poor
We beat Pool we were good but..........they were poor
We beat Yanited we were good but......they were poor

This has been the press general consensus in all these games.

Our press when done right forces mistakes, stops teams taking risks, and puts doubt into the mind of opposition players. These teams didn't just play badly, we made them look poor because we stopped them playing, and forced them to make mistake after mistake. We like all teams are at our best when we play to our strengths, our biggest strength iIMO is the team press. we should use it against every strong team. It has been my biggest frustration thus far, that Poch has been switching our style of play too often and we, again imo, just haven't used our pressing game anywhere near enough in the first half of the season.

Very true. If you stand back and watch games dispassionately you realise that a huge number of goals are scrappy despite being scored by very good teams. When a player scores an own goal or someone prods in a tap-in because of a silly mistake, it doesn’t mean the goal is lucky. It often, if not usually, is a sign that the defending team’s play has become disjointed because of the pressure they’ve been subjected to. You see it all the time. Man City’s opening goal against Bristol City the other day was a perfect example.

This is one of my biggest gripes with Poch and why I cant stand him sometimes.
The first season he got us to press the heck out of the opposition and as it was a new philosophy and regime we tired towards the end of the season. The 2nd season, we backed off a bit but we at least tactically pressed at certain times in games, and pressed opposition in certain games when necessary. The Man Utd game was the first game so far this season where we pressed the heck out of our opposition. Liverpool we didnt press them as much but they were shockingly poor defensively which helped.

And this is the biggest reason why I dont rate him as highly as many on here do.
This season shows perfectly how its almost been overlooked completely and forgotten about. We have the fitness and energy levels to press far more this season than we already have, yet we have barely played like this at all this season. A couple of PL games here and a couple of CL games there...
His tactics arent great, his substitutions are pathetically abysmal, so the least he could do is drill the pressing game into the players on a more regular basis to get results or increase our chances of getting a result, but he hasnt. Its like he just doesnt learn from his mistakes until it really bites him on the arse and then theres a mini response. It shouldnt have to be like that - but it is.

Im pretty sure his change on the press is in response to having failed so bad in the CL last time out, as well as the high number of injuries we get. Its not the first time this season we have pressed heavy but yes we press less these days and often just for phases of the game not all the time. Poch has changed that because he thinks it will win us more games in the long run, not less.

I think Poch can be stubborn but he is constantly changing, I think one of the problems this season is he has been tinkering way too much. Injuries haven't helped. But he does constantly does try to evolve how we play. Its always built on the same principles, but why would he change them, when they are clearly good principles.

I think the fairest way to judge a manager is the success of the team given the circumstances. In this regard Poch is the best manager we have had in my life time and frankly he is the single biggest reason for the reason this tottenham side is doing so well.

Also the wembley pitch is 6m longer than whl. You press there and gaps are left behind which can be exploited.

Plus its not easy playing the press against ten defenders who never try to play out but just kick it as far as they can and get back in their trenches, how much pressing can you do when you've got the ball all the time?
I'm sure other teams fans would agree too.

To be fair, Trix said we should use the press against 'strong teams'

Strong teams don't generally park the bus

What utter nonsense If you think this is the first time we've pressed this season then you haven't been watching us properly. why do yoy think we have high energy levels nowadays? It's because we don't press relentlessly and we are conserving energy so that we don't burn out towards the end of the season, you actually referenced that in your post. You do realise it's impossible to press every match especially when teams are playing deep and don't build up from the back don't you?
