Assuming we lost the 5 away games, that also gives 3 points to each of our rivals which is an issue. 6 point games and all that.

Not disputing that element. United (albeit at home) at the weekend was a key game because they are a top 4 rival and the game came ahead of some other very tough fixtures. These games do matter and a 6 pointer isn't just about closing in on your rivals or creating a gap - for me they come down to momentum and form - big wins build confidence and confidence gets results in the other games (all of which matter).

Yet we tend to beat those teams at home so the opposite would then be true.

Swings and roundabouts.

We have the fitness and energy levels to press far more this season than we already have, yet we have barely played like this at all this season.

The problem is we have not had the fitness to play this way game in and game out this year. With Wanyama, Dembele, Winks, Toby, Rose etc. all having extended injuries/fitness issues, Kane out for a bit, Lamela not available early, etc. we could not press match after match and expect for the players to hold up. As Poch said in one interview last year, "the players are not machines". We are just now coming to a point with us having enough quality players to start to press on a regular basis and I expect that we will do it more the rest of the season, but to say we had the squad available to play that way the first half the season is just not true, IMO.

But you can't live on that. I think the key is not lose to the top 6, THEN it's down to picking points from the rest of the teams.

Agreed. A game like the one against United will hopefully make them doubt themselves for the next game.

Which is what Mourinho likes to do, but it appears that may be an outdated way of doing things.

Sets the wrong tone for the players if you ask me, simply not losing to your rivals doesn't give you the belief or confidence that you're better than them.

I would say Spurs are a big club if honest.

Certainly going in right direction with team and new stadium also.

Yeah they haven't won anything for long time but we have 1 league cup win in last 12 years??

Spurs have exactly same pulling power as us at moment imo

Carried on reading through the thread and it was all surprisingly respectful saying we have a strong team, Liverpool will have to be on top of their game etc etc and then normal RAWK service was resumed with

He makes a fair and reasoned point. Hard to argue when someone puts their view across in such a calm and rational way.

How is Alli a coward? He always fronts up.

They really need to get their fingers out of their Nan and actually objectively watch some football

We have judging by most of the thread so far, there is a couple of we’ll smash them type posts but most are actually fairly cautious and the rest are arguing about if we are a big club or not :D
