Haven't watched loads of Watford this year, but he's been the stand out player for them whenever I have, not in a "world class" kind of way, just in a bloody competent, athletic but technically decent kind of way.

Seems Poch would like him. Maybe not the kind of midfielder we need, but a good option.

I said would, for the reasons you presented before.

You said "seems Poch would like him" - sounded like you'd heard something.

I do think we could do better the Doucoure, but we could (and have - cough Sissoko) do worse. Apart from the more obvious candidates like Ndombele etc, I think I'd rather take someone like Seri from Nice.

Almost every team in Ligue1 seems to have a player like Doucoure right now.

How good is Domenico Berardi? Option for the striker/WF position.
He is having his least impressive season since he turned professional. There are talks about whether he lacks the drive or ambition to become really great. At any rate, Serie A has abundant of talent now, way more than when Berardi was really hot commodity, so most teams would probably end up buying somebody else over him these days.

I think it seems we are after a ball carrier in CM, Poch would love to find the new Dembele to coach from a younger age. It’s an important part of how we play too, when Dembele can drive forward, he literally skips through the other teams midfield, and we’re away. Unfortunately he doesn’t always make the right decision from there, and his injuries have meant we see less of him. So I think we are looking at guys with this skill set. Along with some extra pace elsewhere too.

De Jong/N’dembele/Kovacic
Malcolm
Sessegnon

Big money on Bale too (I wish!!!)

Basically
Barcelona Youth -> Everton (Loan) -> Sevilla (Loan) -> Everton (Sold) -> Milan (Loan) -> Barcelona (Buyback clause) -> Watford (Loan)

It's like Barca's using top level clubs around the world to train their youth...while we send ours to no higher than championship level.

Hopefully it is not for richalison. Too much raw as of yet. I hope we are looking to someone like draxler/malcom/pulisic if we really want to upgrade sissoko/lamela

If we’re still after Malcom and Sessegnon then why the hell would we also want Richarlison? Given the attacking players we’ve already got and even with say Sissoko and/or Lamela leaving we would still be heavily bloated in that area.

We should always have contingency plans in case (haha) we don't land our primary targets. In this case though, I hope Richarlison isn't it.

Richarlison is ridiculously overrated imo but he is very young and will only get better.

Richarlison hit the ground running but has fell away badly since the first few months

Richarlison is definitely a Poch project, he likes those sort of players where he can nurture them and turn them into men, I can see why he likes him, he's raw and hasa lot of potential.

I watched Richarlison and he does look like a diamond in the rough, a constant menace last night to chelski.

But he got tired and came off after 70mins I think.

The commentators were saying he played a full season of brazilian league football up to end of July then straight into the prem with no rest or pre season. Hence why his performances lately have not been as high, due to being tired so he is coming off more, bare that in mind. For someone to come in to the league and adapt so quickly is definitely worth a punt imo.

May I also add Doucore was the best player on the pitch by a mile last night, has looked very impressive this season. Could be a dembele replacement?

Predicting players is a real minefield.

I remember Junior Hoillett having one of the highest assist rates in the Prem for a relegated side. At the time he was young and new to the Prem.

A lot of people were interested and bewildered when he chose QPR over ourselves and Arsenal. Turns out that was his level.

Richarlison has shown he has some ability. As he is young and in his first Prem after a good start he got highly rated. This is normal.

Why he hasn't maintained his performance levels I have no idea.Maybe he isn't good enough. Maybe he is struggling with the physicality of the Prem and will adjust better next season. Maybe he's in a poor team who has changed their manager and in a better more settled team will flourish.

Conclusion, I have no idea.

Doucoure for me is everything Poch wishes Sissoko could be. Been so impressed with him this season. Not just as an athlete, but he's technically very good too, his passing, shooting from range on the move - he can tackle as well. For the right price, I would be all over him. He's shown he can adapt to the PL, so less of a risk than an overseas player, even if others may have a higher ceiling. Not a Dembele replacement, but if we can shift Sissoko, he'd be my number one pick
