we didn't. all 4 stands were renewed.

Yes of course, but the dimensions didn’t shrink.. and they filled the corners and extended the north and south stands which if anything made it larger than when it held that record-breaking crowd. And the East Stand was rebuilt before that Sunderland FA Cup match wasn’t it?

It was the change to all-seating that reduced the capacity, obviously. I jus find it interesting that we had 76,000 in such a relatively small space, and 60,000 fairly regularly when I started going.

I bet they had to wait for ages for the tram home.

I doubt a couple of very windy days is going to alter the timetable of a building project that's taken years to build and has another year to completion.

The only weather situation that's going to cause a problem surely is a freakishly cold and snowy winter.
I heard over the weekend that the crane operators come down in windy conditions. All that is apart from one who carries on regardless, much to the annoyance of all the others. Also hear that they do two shifts a day in the cranes, 7am until 12 midday being the early one, before a second operator takes over. But they all get paid for 12 hour days.

So that poster Bazza over on SSC who does a lot of the aerial shots over the stadium and has been involved in build in some way has hinted over there tonight that he’s heard that Levy has found a naming rights deal... Pinch of salt and all that.

I've asked this as a joke before, but seriously - how do they get the cranes out of there? Do not understand construction, at all (obviously), but I struggle getting a sofa through a door, how the hell do these guys do it?
