and who are these traditional target men in the prem? not many, and even so I still believe he could handle himself well against the physical threat. Just like how Toby and Jan do cerebally.

It’d be easier to list the players that wouldn’t bully Foyth...

Listen, I’m not saying he’s shit, or won’t ever make it here. But people are losing their minds about him based on a handful of performances against inferior opposition. Let’s not all pretend he’s the second coming of Beckenbaur and be realistic about him.

I wasn’t joking when I compared him to Chiriches, who looked great when he first arrived, lots of technical ability, but a lot to learn about defending. Vlad went off the rails and got shipped out, he’s doing ok at Napoli by all accounts. Foyth could become a nice defender too. But he isn’t one yet.

I think it's fair to be very excited about what he potential can become, all the evidence is very clear. And to say that he couldnt do a job in the league is bit off an underestimation of his ability.

We'll have to agree to disagree, because I think you are just playing to stereotypes and the old way of thinking about football.

Looks like he’s getting a bit of a cult following already. Anyone would think he’d kept Suarez and Messi quiet for 90 minutes.

He’s got potential, and he looks to have good ball control, but any striker in the premier league would bully him without too much problem. He needs more matches, and to bulk up before I’d be happy with him starting over any of our other defenders. A loan somewhere in the Championship next season would do him the world of good.

Just as well he is training with mr Kane each day then

Didn’t Carroll play for West Ham in carabo cup? Seen him 5 or 6 times and not seen him bullied by anyone. He’s actually 6 “1 just needs to fill out a bit. Don’t really like to mention his name but quite a similar build to koscielny. What I have liked is his pace he is deceptively quick.

If you seriously would rather have an inexperienced 19 year old starting ahead of a £50 million defender and England International then all power to you. But I think you’re nuts.

Just out of interest where in my original post did I say that?
Foyth doesn't start regularly for us, never in the PL but Stones plays regularly.
I would still prefer Foyth as I think his ceiling is far higher than Stones.
All my opinion and preference of course and not a fact. So think we'll stop this RAWK ish chat now, for me anyway.

Very silky, intelligent defender. And although he lacks strength he's still willing to challenge the opposition so has the commitment.
Very similar to Stones at that age.
He'll certainly make the grade but will need to strengthen to play at the highest level in this country. And seeing as he doesn't shy away from a battle I think he will.

Well to be fair, I've not seen either of them go past the boy yet. :cautious:

No it wouldn't.
It would be one of the worst mistakes we could make

I think he held his own against Nouble who looks as big as any striker in the PL. He won't be bullied as easily a you think

Argentinian CB are generally as tough as they come. Also don’t underestimate Poch personal involvement with him.Countryman and same position. We hear the stories of players going for dinner at Poch. Bet he’s been taken into the Pochettino family. Also had a look through his twitter seems like he has a childhood sweetheart, which I think adds to his general stability as opposed to being 20 and being out on the town in London. Seems like a good kid from a humble background must be a massive whirlwind for him much like Sanchez. Hopefully he will fulfill his potential.

I think the lad has something.

Possibly not great in the air. But very composed and assured. Has great technique.

Any traditional target man would have him on toast.
they are all fully grown men, with many preseasons worth of weight sessions under their belts.

How many traditional target men aged 19-20 would have him on toast?

Juan only turned 20 a few weeks ago, considering CB is a position where players generally take a bit longer to peak, he is looking good.

The stuff he struggles with is the stuff that will get better with age almost by default.

CCV is built like a tank, but it sure didn't help him in his outings for us last season.

CCV doesn’t strike me as being a smart defender at the moment. I think he relies on brawn because he is physically imposing. That will come with more experience when he has to deal with players who won’t be bullied and have the smart moves.

That’s not really the point is it, Arsenal wouldn’t suddenly play one of their youth strikers just because we are playing Foyth. If he’s playing In the first team he’d need to be able to cope.

I’m not saying he’s shit, I’m just saying he’s not ready. People are getting very very touchy about this...god forbid anyone have realistic expectations about a young player on SC.
