I do worry that we are setting ourselves up for a fall here.

We will seem like stereotypical southern fancy dans who don't fancy it much.

Already giving the players an excuse too with Poch's comments.

Shut up, play the game and get on with it.

I don't give a sh*t what we "seem like". It's more important for Spurs to not risk player injury than it is to not seem like southern fancy dans.

So how many ankle injuries were there the other night when they played Millwall?
Seems like people are panicking over nothing personally.

Back in the 1990s we were drawn away in the FA Cup to Marlow in Buckinghamshire but the game went ahead at White Hart Lane. At least that's what I recall. I believe Marlow asked it to be moved to WHL, based on safety reasons. Although that was about crowd numbers, I think, rather than playing on a sand pit!

I don't think there were any but I suspect that's because both teams lined up on the edge of each others' penalty box armed with a cannon and just lobbed balls forward for 90 minutes until one of them went in, thus avoiding the need for anyone to actually turn around and risk an ankle injury.

Meanwhile the Rochdale fans celebrated their goal by smoothing their flatcaps and stroking their whippets and for some reason this upset the Millwall fans (mainly because a stray leaf upsets Millwall fans) who then complained that there was no more grass left for them to destroy in protest.

Ahhh...the magic of the cup.

Not really though. The Newport pitch was poor at best but nothing was made of it in the media or by the club, but with this pitch we might as well play on the moon

Seriously though if we have to play on that pitch I'd send out the kids.

Genuinely not worth playing on that sort of nonsense and I don't care if that makes us sound up our own arses etc. I wouldn't let my cats play on that pitch let alone £500m+ worth of playing assets.

Anyone who thinks that about Spurs these days, doesn't watch much football. And that will work in our favour!

I completely agree, and I don't think it's about being up our own arses or even too soft. That pitch is a potential career ender. Not worth it. Play it at Wembley, give them the majority of the gate reciepts.

If it was just a typical crap lower-league pitch then I'd agree with you, but this is barely classes as a pitch.

The issue is do we really want to risk e.g. Kane doing his ankle just so a bunch of nobodies don't call us "southern fancy dans"?

Got to say best times as a kid was playing on those crazy muddy park pitches. Getting home covered head to toe in mud lol. Even better when the mud froze over and was literally like playing football in frozen waves

Funny thing Spurs in the 70s must have blanked it out in my mind. I had 2 60's then an 80s :ROFLMAO:

Not too worried.

I am sure the team will have a good discussion about the matter, maybe getting some doctors, physios, sports science people involve. And if there is an increase risk of a mechanical injury, then we can submit our finding to the FA to see if they can step in.

Newport actually improve their pitch when we visited. They also add temporary seating gallery for the match. So changes can happen before the match.

At the end of the day... If it's really a risk... We can always send in a reserve side, or even forfeit the game. Gotta trust the team to make the right decision. Nothing much we can do but support the side.
