It’s also nothing to do with winding up the Welsh public coz this is all about him trying to influence the ref before KO (like he always does, last year it was about the scrum) which is funny seeing as he’s calling AWJ for trying to ref the game when that’s exactly what he’s trying to do.

Jones has literally zero interest in winding up the Welsh public.

Which, to be fair, is why it's so funny when it does wind them up anyway.

Eddie is a bit of a git. If Gatland said the same thing you'd love it though so not really sure it requires the level of personal abuse that you, and I assume most of the principality are giving him.

I'm sure there will be a very balanced article on it on Wales Online soon though.

And it's something that all coaches do. Gatland does it all the time.

Not particularly edifying I agree, but certainly not something that Jones is exclusively guilty of.

His smug face winds me up so he doesn’t have to say anything.

Don’t get me wrong, Gatland and many others do similar but Eddie takes it to the next level and it’s not really necessary. Like his sarky dig at Scotland and Townsend.

If Gatland said the kind of stuff Eddie did I honestly wouldn’t like it. Got no problems with comments he made about Patchell but he’s always digging out refs and certain players which then makes other managers do it.

He says AWJ is bringing a football mentality when he’s the one who acts like a football manager.

AWJ won’t be effected by this but Garces is the target.

I don’t hold much hope for a win but he’s going to look like such a twat if you lose. In the words of Eddie Jones. “You’re only arrogant if you lose if you win its self belief”

As I've said Gatland has a long history of saying things like that so it's definitely hypocritical to have a pop at Jones for it.

I agree with you generally that it would be better if they just got on with it, but the nature of rugby does mean that influencing the ref is a huge part of the game. A game can really go against you if you get on the wrong side of the ref early, and that's why you see players and coaches calling out these things before the game.

As for the 'football mentality' with regards to backchat it is something that is creeping onto the pitch which is very irritating. Farrell is particularly bad for it I've noticed, as is Conor Murray. Webb is arguably the worst offender for it, but at least we're spared this in this tournament.

I definitely agree about Jones looking daft if we lose this one. But I suspect he's the sort of character who literally couldn't give a shit.

Been working with a Welsh bloke this morning and he's completely losing his shit over this. Can't remember the last time I laughed so much. Trouble is, I have to keep a straight face and then go somewhere else to laugh or the slow burn will be extinguished.

It is entertaining if nothing else.

When Eddie eventually leaves his job as Head Coach, we should keep him within the RFU just to wheel him out for comments before we play Wales.

Biggar is, without doubt, our worst player for this kind of stuff. AWJ is such a gent that they should give him the keys to Buckingham palace and let him reign over the UK as our dear leader.

I’m not hearing anything from our side yet and if we do, like I said earlier, it’s normally is response to some top trolling by Jones.

Actually, I tell a lie. Gatland had a little dig at Jones (not any English players or the ref) but in fact just praised him for being such a great coach and said he’s learning off him but then said he should manage the lions in SA but then had a dig by saying the expectation would be 3-0 as it’s the easiest tour.

England are cheats and always have been.
Jones should be banned from coaching. He cheated when he coached Japan.
Gatland should man up and support his team.
AWJ is twice the player Itoje will ever be.

It's obviously complete shit but it's very entertaining.

Yes I'd forgotten about Biggar.

It's actually more annoying when it comes from players other than the scrum halves, because you sort of expect it from the 9s.

I think AWJ is a gent you're right, in the same way Robshaw was as England captain (and always is at Quins). I'd much rather see players like that having a sensible conversation with the ref than the chippy irritating nonsense we see from some players.

As for Gatland, I was talking about his career in general in terms of comments he's made. I actually think this week the Welsh camp have done the right thing in keeping their heads down. As you've said they've really got nothing to lose, so to pipe up would be fairly daft.

I think Jones, meanwhile, is just trying to get that extra edge which is what he does, and whilst I actually don't think it's the most sensible thing to do in the build up to this game, the by-product that it enrages so many people is potentially worth it on its own.

If he starts to calm down, just mention Edward I and that should set him off again.

Always liked Robshaw. Seems like a genuinely nice bloke.

I kind of love this anyway. Love getting the match day feeling a day or 2 before. All part of the circus but you’ll win again and Eddie’s face will be even smugger than it is now and that thought has literally just made me throw up a little in my mouth. Just want Saturday over with now. Spurs best not fuck up. I’m not having someone kick me in the balls then give them a whack with a sledgehammer later in the evening.

Yeah tomorrow is almost too much high-stakes sport to cope with in one day.

I'm going to Wembley, and then need to try and find a boozer, preferably nowhere near Wembley, to watch the rugby.

This means that I may get to 4.45 without having had a beer. By which point I think every sporting nerve in my body will be pretty frazzled.

And is if that isn't enough, I'm then off to Quins v Wasps on Sunday.

If my teams lose all three, I'm resigning from sport.

We’ll do the goons. Feel much more confident for that one.

I’ll be happy if we just play well and run you close. Not happy ill obviously be disappointed but you know what I mean. I’ll take a close loss, it wouldn’t ruin my day as long as we beat Arsenal.

You realise you're going to miss the Men's Individual Normal Hill Ski-Jumping, don't you.

It's all kicked off again! Apparently Joe Marler should have been banned from all rugby for life for calling Samson Lee a pikey and Courtney Lawes is a talentless thug! I'll be amazed if there isn't a punch up before knocking off time. Comedy gold.
