Fiorentina Captain Davide Astori has been found dead in his hotel room before their game against Udinese.

All Serie A games cancelled out of respect.

I remember us being linked to him a few times over the last few years.

Just 31 years old. Suspected heart attack.

Amazing and such a shame how many young, supposedly fit and healthy athletes have suffered this in the last few years. Sad news.

Dreadful news, really upsetting - he became a dad 2 weeks ago too, it seems.

I just don’t understand it. Are clubs putting harmful chemicals in their players? Surely there’s more to it?

RIP, can’t imagine how hard it is for his family.

Conte absolutely shattered by Astori's death.
he resisted his tears, was barely talkign to SKY sports before pre match conference..

Astori's first national cap was given by Conte.

RIP Astori...

Gone too soon.

Expecting black arm bands and a moment of remembrance on Wednesday.

Sad day for football worldwide.

Terrible.

I'm sure we'll do something on Wednesday evening against Juve...as a mark of respect.

Shreeves is an absolute thunder ****, poking and prodding almost as if he was trying to make Conte cry, was difficult watching it.

I never understand the need for the questions, why can’t they just say “obviously sad news today about one of your former players” and let the bloke speak.

Why do they need to ask stupid questions like “how shocked were you to hear the news?” - how shocked was he to hear a 31 year old footballer died in his sleep, really?

A good journalist knows that questions are almost totally unnecessary. Making a statement is a much better way to get a response out of your interviewee, in almost every situation.

But most football journalists aren't good journalists.

You're right, of course but the more they get someone to say, the more chance some of it will be 'news' that they can stretch out of it.

I worked with a guy who died at 19. He was engaged and his girlfriend was expecting. No family history or health problems flagged up but he had a heart attack. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

Manslaughter investigation been opened. Thought there had to be more to it. Who knows in Italy anything is possible.
