If he gets crooked again playing in meaningless friendly then I guess that’s that.

And if he won’t sign the contract, Poch ain’t letting him anywhere near that 1st team.

That sends the wrong message to the group.

Either you are committed or you are not.

That seems to be one of Poch’s values and is doesn’t matter who you are.

The collective trumps the individual.

Same thing happened with Walker last year, near the end of the season he hardly played and then he was sold.

Sad, but truth be told, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Yeah I hate to agree with you cos I love toby, but the club comes first.

There’s a few reports out there saying we’ve pulled the plug now on contract talks and he’ll be sold for around 44 million in the summer.

Shame

Course he's fit, he was on the bench last match against Swansea. Everything else is speculation, spin, or bullshit.

We've learnt nothing new about his contract situation. He'll probably leave in summer but life will go on.

Yep. Love Toby, but we've done quite well without him.

I wish Toby would realise that the money he'd make with us is still a handsome sum & success would be achieved with a group that has grown well together.

Hopefully we get a tidy sum for him & take a closer look at Stefan De Vrij, who is supposed to be leaving on a free at the end of the season. SDV is a big, powerful centre-back who is also comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Foyth will be a lot bigger over the next two years and Sanchez will get better on the ball.

I wouldn’t describe him as ‘fully fit’ - not only is he short of ‘match fitness’, he suffered a niggle on his return.

Regardless of his contract situation, Poch has a history of easing players back in after nasty injuries. Wanyama is an identical situation and no one’s querying his future; it’s purely putting 2+2 together.
Also Sanchez has done tremendously well and frankly doesn’t deserve to be dropped just because Toby’s not injured (I’m not using the word ‘fit’ because he’s not!).

He could easily play 90 mins in a friendly but if I were Martinez i’d just be a bit cautious.

But it was Vertonghen, Sanchez and Toby, all playing together when they were all fit, so the person to lose out would be from up top from either Alli, Son or Eriksen.

So the fact that Toby doesn’t start isn’t the end of the world right now, we are solid at the back and who in their right mind would advocate dropping Sonny or Eriksen.

Maybe Alli, at a push, but even his game is improving too.

I think this is he point. We are far more effective with the 4 attacking players than the 3 and the extra centre back. So the question is do you drop Son/Alli or Toby?

really like Toby and will miss seeing him in the side --- but can't spend Pool money on him with Kane, Alli et al to be re-signed first

Come on now, Toby is much better and experienced than Sanchez.

Either Toby is pulling out a Walker or Pochetino doesn't feel he's fit enough. Otherwize, it doesn't make any sense to have him seating instead of Sanchez.

Yeah agree. Likely either not fit or leaving but I’ll guess we’ll wait and see.

Sánchez is good and will be very good but he is learning and has rickets in him every game (its noticeable that other teams’ fans are a bit miffed why Spurs fans think he’s so good already because he will usually have at least one iffy moment that makes MoTD).

There’s no way he keeps Toby out if he’s fully fit and in Poch’s plans for me. But hey, what do I know?

Quite well is right, but it’s hard to win comps without him. He makes our defence special, and is the difference in those big games against the best clubs. Couldn’t have seen us losing to Juventus that night with him playing on form.

He used the same cautious approach when dealing with other players coming back from long-term injuries. By being on the bench last week, Poch was indicating he was free from injury and, in other circumstances, might have given him 10 or so minutes. Martinez is possibly being a bit mischievous here.

Sanchez is only gonna get better, and the few times Toby did feature after his injury, there was nothing to write home about, chiefly Rochdale's second goal - and we're talking about a League 1 relegaton struggler.
If Toby wants out, there is little we can do to stop him, but if he wants in - then it's pen to paper and get back to the level we've grown accustomed to.
