I read on the other week that the black flooring being laid on the pitch area was the base for the NFL pitch but I am not sure that is right.
When I look at what appear to be trays they seem to be at a level with the side wall and my understanding is that the NFL pitch was below that level so that every front seat can be used in spite of the all the big buggers standing on the side line, those trays look too high.
Moreover they look too high and therefore too close to the bottom of the south stand so if more pitch trays are added they won't slide under the structure.
All of which is a long winded way of me saying theymust be the pitch trays mustn't they?
Sorry if someone has already confirmed this, if they did I missed it.
tl;dr

But, I think the black flooring is the floor for the nfl pitch. One of the pictures showed the rails where Spurs pitch will roll in and out. The artificial turf will be laid on top of tha black flooring.

Yeah that's what I thought but it seems a bit high to me looking from the camera in the north stand.

I think camera angles are deceptive , the black area is the base of NFL pitch.

Following is extract from planning statement,.......By sliding the soccer pitch out sightlines for NFL are improved by raising the front row of the spectator seating to a height of 4 feet from NFL pitch level to front row tread level. This negates the loss of seats on the front of the east and west stands and helping improve the proximity of spectators to the sidelines. The turf soccer pitch sits in three trays which separate and then slide into a parked position below the south stand and southern podium. In order for this to be possible and for the artificial pitch, including run offs to be accommodated three rows at the front of the south stand are removed in NFL mode. This has been taken account of within the stadium capacity figures outlined elsewhere

I think it's raised up at the moment - the pics Tony posted that's sparked my question about nuts and bolts, is that not part of the base we're talking about? If it is, it looks like it's elevated a few feet so they can work under it. Once they remove the props then it'll probably sit much lower once in place.

The more I read about the pitch, the more I can't wait to see it in action. It's going to look like Tracy Island when they throw the switch.

Hope they play the Thunderbirds music the first time they demonstrate it, that would be amazing :)

I wouldnt have thought pitch is gonna be wheeling in and out when stadium is occupied. Surely that will done before and after an event.

The quoted time to actually achieve it was as little as 30 minutes. I’d be fascinated to see it in action. Spurs will probably do tours and charge! :cautious:

I am interested to see it in operation too, as I am not sure if the quoted 30mins related to rolling the turf pitch in and out or if it included all the work needed to get both pitches 'match ready'... you have the great big NFL goal to put up and take down and i bet the grounds men will be out with their forks having a good prod! in reality i would guess an hour or more from true start to finish but will be super impressed if its the 30mins THFC have been talking about.
