To be fair we could sign Messi and our fans would be "meh" so it could be just about anyone
Getting too old, and he's too small for the PL.

Think people are also getting too wrapped up with this "meh" signing, thinking all we are going to be getting are "meh" signings. This isn't the only signing of the window (or is it?!!!!!!)........think some patience is due until we see the window play out as a whole. (yea right)

Not massive difference between him and de Jong. Similar age, similar stats, similar league quality, similar playing styles.

Just a championship buy isn't as sexy as one from Ajax

They play at different ends of the midfield.

Josh is loved by everyone at the club. Rated as our best youth player at every level he played. If he ends up leaving then it won’t be down to the club pushing him out. More so to prove he can play first team week in week out and establish himself as a regular for a Prem side.

Also reckon Grealish. Sounds like Poch is a fan and Daniel sees a deal.

Can just imagine the personal assistant speaking to the CEO at Villa last week.

“You’ve got Daniel Levy on line 1 and a gentlemen from collections at HMRC on line 2. Who do you want to speak to first?”

Imagine someone telling you 6 months ago we'd be replacing dembele with Jack grealish...

Still, if poch is a fan, then I'm a fan. As long as he pulls his f***ing socks up.

I am not going to be brave and call it. I expect with what is going on (negotiations), I expect 1, more likely 2 signings before WC starts. One ‘may’ be seen as ‘meh’. But don’t knock it, as Poch sees him as No.1 choice for him in that position.
Love the fact all anyone is talking about is the meh signing. Herc said there’s a possibility of 2 signings before the WC, which is a week away. This is positive ITK. Let’s not get too carried away with being discouraged about Grealish (who’s actually got a fuckload of potential by the way).

Why are some going ape shit if we sign say Grealish? Pulisic, who we have been all over since time and memorial at 60m. Is he say 40m better than the likes of Grealish?

Will we spend 20-30m on Rondon? No!
May as well spend 60m on Martial. If that don’t work, spend 20m from Europe on a 22 year old?

Will we pay Norwich 30m for Maddison against Grealish?

Being smart, and allowing money for one big splash (Martial?), and a different kind of defensive midfield for 30m, give or take?

Lamela argument. Like it or not, he is expendable. Do I believe he will be here next season? Yes! But can’t say 100%. Will he be offered s new contract? Dury is out. My opinion; maybe turn of the year, if he delivers. More than chasing down.

That is how you have to think. Because that is how the club and manager are thinking.

I think it's just because the Meh bit narrows it down a bit. The other guy could be anyone.

£20m for Grealish would be a great deal. If he makes it into the England squad in the next couple of years his value will rocket.

Good info from Herc...taking our requirements/needs into account in relation to our budget, if getting Grealish allows us more budget to throw at Martial I'm all for it.

Trust Poch's discretion all the way, and Martial really would spice up our attacking options - he's the one I'm praying we get.

(We really shouldn't spend a tenner on Rondon but yada yada we got all got all sorts of onions on that one)

For me it comes down to it seems we are going for quantity when I really truley believe we just need a small amount more quality. 2-3 "splashes" instead of 1 (possible) splash and then a host pebbles that may bounce right and make a splash. Cheers as always Herc. Really do love your info no matter the content.

All depends if we get a player of martial talent then people would accept a Grealish type signing.

If it works out we miss out on the bigger player then people will be rightly underwhelmed imo

Are we still trying to shift Gordon, Herc?!

Agree with your points. We have to be smart! It's got us into some great positions and I'd rather we had money left to go all in for a player like Martial than pay over the odds in other areas.
