The most concerning thing about this transfer for me is that we're going to have to start treating The Star as a reliable transfer source.
Surely down to sheer numbers. If you keep making up stories in droves, you'll stumble on one that will turn into reality every once in a while.

One unintentionally accurate transfer story does not a reliable newspaper make...

I'm glad to see some poster here confident in this signing because what appears to me to be a midfield battler is not quite
what we need imo .

I'll defer to those who know his situation better tho and keep fingers crossed .

He isn't a midfield battler.

He certainly isn't a midfield battler, if anything he's the opposite.

If he's someone Poch really wants I hope Trix is right & the Chelski thing is just a load of BS.

Apologies if this has already been covered, but didn't herc say we would have to get "creative" with one of our DM options? Maybe he means that instead of a orthodox DM, we bring in a CM with a bit more creativity, for the purpose of playing deeper. If that's the case, Grealish fits that role, right?

Wrong. For about the 10th time, Grealish is an attacking midfielder.

So is dele/eriksen, but seen plenty of people wanting to move them deeper to accommodate more forward options.

In a 4-3-3 yes, it would still contain a true defensive midfielder. I thought you were talking about using Grealish as a defensive mid.

Depends on how you define positions really. Wouldn't have him as THE defensive midfielder, but in place of dembele, he offers a creative option in the middle

He held his own in a central midfield position last season, in a very physical league.

Don't be surprised if you see him playing deeper then the classic 'number 10' for us....

(If we sign him).

Well possibly, personally quite excited to see how Poch will have us line up next season. I suggest we debate formations more to get this to 100 pages.

LOL indeed.

Player of the year in Holland? Wow, he's definitely not another Josh McEachren.

Means nothing with regards to breaking through at Chelsea and still a pretty poor comment to say he's a better player than Grealish at 19 years old IMO.

I see Grealish as support/rotation for Eriksen, definitely an attacking midfielder. I think where we were missing creativity from deeper central midfield, due to Dier and Wanyama's best attributes being more defensive, will hopefully be rectified with Harry Winks coming back to full fitness. Winks was playing beautifully in that role until he got injured, and this season he will be another year wiser and stronger
