I have wondered as a few people have said it, are people amazed at the 'monstrous' size of the stadium when comparing it to WHL or from pictures they've seen or in comparison with other big stadiums?

For me, it’s the comparison with WHL. It makes the grand old stadium feel like a toy, even though I remember being in 60,000 crowds there, mostly standing and squashed in like delirious sardines.

I’ve only seen it from the outside. But the size is jaw dropping. It definitely looks much bigger than the emirates. But that’s because it’s much taller. Sure I heard it’s actually same height as bernabeu from outside. I wasn’t comparing it to old WHL as basically there is just no comparison it’s pointless. I think the fact it’s in such an urban area and so squeezed in emphasis it even more. Even after everything I’d heard and all the pictures I was still shocked.

dmb111: I was able to have a tour of the stadium last night with Moussa and thought I'd share my thoughts...

Progress

- The stadium looks incredible - both from the inside and outside, the overall quality of the finish is remarkable and unlike any other stadium you've been to. It feels more like a premium Westfield-style mall than a football stadium

- There are nearly 3,500 workers on site at present, which is essentially 10% capacity of the lane. Everywhere you go, there are workers

- Everyone seems confident that the stadium will be 90% complete by the first launch event on 5 August 2018 - DL won't let the stadium open without everything in place, minus things like the Sky Lounge etc which will probably open in the 2019/20 season (these aren't essential for launch although works continue on them)

- Walking around the stadium, it feels like a mixed bag in terms of progress. There are some areas that are really advanced and others that still have a lot of work to do (corporate areas mainly). However, with so many people on site, I expect things will move pretty quickly

Concourses and surrounding area

- The West Stand concourse is basically complete. The floor is very shiny. Noticeably shiny. Like Larry David's head.

- The restaurants and bars are pretty much complete - the pints filling up from the bottom feature looks very impressive

- The South Stand atrium is incredible! You've never appreciated how good the views are of London from Tottenham until you see this. Seriously impressive and a genuine feature of the stadium (really hope the hotel doesn't block any view)

- We bumped into DL on the tour in his yellow jacket (no hard hat). Apparently he's so invested in every detail of the stadium, which we should be proud of

- Exec areas and tunnel club look superb - tunnel club still largely incomplete but you are literally right on top of the players. It's an area I'll never get to see as prices are through the roof but it's great seeing it in its construction stages

- Toilets - very nice. Very yellow. Huge upgrade on WHL toilets but we couldn't exactly downgrade

- Chick King is still going strong - the workers and Lilywhite House staff have been keeping it very busy

- The hotel will most likely be built around the 2019/20 season

Inside the stadium

- One word - WOW! I walked around the entire tour grinning and in complete awe of how impressive the stadium is. It's absolutely huge but it's remarkable how close to the pitch you are

- The North Stand is incredible - yes, the South Stand will get all the praise and it's unbelievable but the North Stand is so high and so intimidating

- Wifi - the club have been keen to push that the wifi signal will be so strong that everyone will have access throughout matches, which is good because the 3G signal was shocking

- You are so close to the pitch - it's so impressive that for a stadium of this size, you still have that intimacy with the pitch and part of it still feels a bit like WHL, particularly looking at the Shelf

- The screens are huge. John Lewis have nothing on this! Honestly never seen screens so big in my life. It's like having 4 of our old jumbotrons but in much closer proximity

Launch Event

- As mentioned above, 5 August will be the launch event. It will be a ticketed event for around 20,000 people and will be a training session

This has easily become my favourite thread on COYS but the photos just don't do it justice in terms of the sheer size of the place. It was well worth sitting through all that sh*t football in the 90s and 00s for this, just you wait. I can't wait for the Liverpool game. COYS!!!!

Right I'm off to see this baby tomorrow, I'll try and get some info and exclusives lol Also gonna post up some pics when I get back. (y)

Well looks like I got my wires crossed a bit, turns out that it was solely a virtual (VR) tour in Lillywhite House, my mate (who hooked me up) managed to get a VR tour and a tour of the stadium as well, I think people were booking stadium tours just to see the stadium and not actually paying/taking any seats so they changed the policy recently and my mate (even though he's put his deposit down on a seat) was one of the last to get a stadium tour, I should be able to get a stadium tour if I take a seat though so we'll see.

So unfortunately I can't really give much info other than what you already know although I can say the level of detail gone into the stadium design is absolutely astounding, I can't remember everything I was told because I was so in awe lol but I'll try my best to remember some details...

- There's around 20 restaurants which will be in the concourse around the stadium placed in various locations, some high street resturants and some independent all in all it will cater for everyone's tastes.

- The away fans have been catered for, they have LED lights on the walls to make them feel welcome, for example if we play Chelsea, the walls will light up blue, they will play Chelsea songs etc...if we play Utd the walls will light up red and they'll serve traditional 'Northern' food etc...

- They are building an automated cashless Spurs store, which is like Amazon's in the US, you have an app on your phone and anything you pick up will directly charge to your app on your phone so no queue's or checkouts. (something like this)

- Also mentioned that Spurs have their own official brewery and in the future you could see an official Tottenham Hotspur ale being sold, didn't go into too much detail there but I'm guessing that we are looking at Tottenham Hotspur to be a brand in the future.

- The space in the isles is massive, no more getting up if people in your row want to leave early or go toilet or something, you can move your legs to the side now, if they wanted to they could have easily crammed in another 10-20 thousand seats easily.

- There's only 6 metres between the stands and the pitch, for reference Olympic Stadium is 23 metres (lol) and Wembley is 14 metres, I think Emirates is something like 10 I believe

- Tottenham actually hired the people who manage U2's acoustics and they went into some very fine detail even the way they've curved the seats so that it bounces off them to keep sound in the stadium.

- Oh yeah @coys200 you'll be happy to know I asked about the screens, confirmed that if you're sitting in the corner you won't be able to see the screen on the other side or see the stands but those seats will be sold at a reduced rate. The screens are 70ft wide by the way so just below the length of a tennis court.

By the way there was a couple of seats which were offered to me but the one I'm considering work out to be £3500 p/y, but you have to buy the seat over a 3/5/7 or 10 year period, basically it offers all home matches including CL games - Think it's in the West Stand on the 3rd tier two blocks to the right of the centre circle, this includes full use of Premium Exec lounge, buffet, free HT bar - Beer/Wine) The seat is beautiful, leather and padded with a cup holder, felt like I was sitting in a car.

Basically the sales exec kept mentioning the word 'match day experience' which seemed to be the buzz word, he said that football is moving to a new era now so people don't want to come to just watch football, the point is that they hope people will come early, sit in the lounges and bars, watch the day time game for example, watch Spurs and spend a whole day there.

And yes I can confirm that it's an absolute monster, it dwarfs everything in and around the area, I saw the stadium from near Bounds Green A406, it's frigging massive. From the pictures and vids you see online they don't do it justice, the place is monstrous. The whole vibe about the place is buzzing, there's genuine excitement from the builders to the staff to the public, never seen the area Tottenham so happy...Make no mistake Tottenham and Edmonton are going to be prime locations in London in the next few years when they start building new flats and a new transport system.

Also I was talking with the sales exec about Spurs and contact (he was a West Ham fan although you wouldn't believe it because he was so down to earth lol) and he seemed to think that Toby was staying for the record, talk of him signing a new deal now, pinch of salt and all that but he seemed fairly certain so there's that. - @Archibald&Crooks give me my blue background please :p

So all in all I had a great day, the stadium is fucking mint and I'll tell you now this stadium is an absolute game changer, I can't tell you enough how much planning has gone into it, the level of detail is very very impressive, I firmly believe that Enic are looking to not only make Spurs one of the best and attractive teams in the world but they want to take the Tottenham brand to new levels, they're looking to take over the fucking world.

It's immense.

Actually a really good idea, must be at least a few times faster than pulling a pint.

You just know the minimum wagers would fuck it up though. These are the people who use to take about three minutes to give you a kitkat chunky and a bottle of coke because they had to take the lid off the coke.

You could see it becoming self-service for beer with this type of thing. Apparently it can do 44 pints a minute.

They had the bottom up filling beers at Wembley at the start of the season.

There's a reason to why they didn't have it at the end of the season. It worked horribly.

Was just thinking this, pay for the cup, barcode on the bottom of the cup like them coffee machines, it dispenses the amount and type of drink you paid for.

Going a step further, if those cups were reinforced by making them out of, say, aluminium and had a sealed lid with some sort of ringpull, then we could look at selling the drinks already poured? Nah, ramblings of a madman...

You say that. They had this system at Middlesbrough away a few seasons ago - I was trying to see how the cup worked and pushed the plastic disc up from the bottom of the glass - ended up with 3/4 of a pint over my shoes

Think the only reason it isn't is because it runs into legal/licensing bollocks.

There was a bar in Belfast that had a self service tap on a few tables. You basically paid you money and pulled your own pints, haven't been there is ages so don't know if its still there.

Cheers @Shadydan the most interesting thing for me is the fact you say they could have squeezed in another 10-20 k seats. That makes the size from outside make sense. It’s almost like we’ve built a 70-75k stadium. Did they say how many premium seats are left ?
