I thought we had £150m to play around with this summer.

With only, according to ITK, CM, forward and creative midfielder to sign.
(Plus a CB if Toby goes)

It’s so disheartening that we can’t complete when it comes to £€$¥ signings, especially when we have fantastic facilities all round and a top manager.

We did...but then that changed to £150m after sales...and we haven't sold anyone...so.... (y)

Honestly not that disappointed. If we sell them Toby, whole other story.

Now just move the Martial fee into the CM budget and boom we have the strategy we've all wanted anyways. Lucas, Lamela, Son, Dele and Eriksen is plenty of depth at AM. Sign someone who can play striker and we are set up top, Plea would have been a perfectly acceptable level. Now we just need a player to link the defense to those bad ass attackers.

I think people really forget or maybe under estimate how damn good that group is, and how it will be even better next year with healthy Lamela, Dele another year matured and Lucas being fully integrated. It's the best group we as Spurs fans have ever seen. At least in recent memory.

We need a creative midfielder who just happens to be strong on the ball. Can cover for Eriksen for when he needs a rest and also offer another creative outlet.

Otherwise it's the Sissoko show next season.

Sissoko as a creative player is infinitely more offensive on a pitch than anything Toby could have possibly said.

Martial off the menu!

Oh well, you know football. Not new to us is it?

:(

This is very disheartening, as I don't mind admitting Martial was someone I would have loved to be coming into this team this season.

As so many realists on here say, it is the hope that kills you.

Moving on.

The question is, what realistic CM options are out there in that £50m+ bracket. Thiago? Pjanic? Not sure we are big enough for those. Kovacic/Brozovic? Maybe but unlikely. Seems like Lazio are pricing everyone out of Milinkovic-Savic.

Interesting to see what happens. Andre Gomes being available at £20m just seems inevitable.

The rebrab post and subsequent Herc info on Martial does suggest this shift of funds might be the case however.

The same set of players do not necessarily get better every year because they stay together. They are eventually going to hit a ceiling, which a lot people seem to think is pretty close to where we are.

Im pretty sure im not alone in thinking the squad needs some freshening up, to keep some of the current players on their toes at the very least!!
Martial would have done that and some. Cant even think who our next option would be....

Didn't we just freshen up with Lucas? And we're adding Grealish to that group most likely.

Hope we at least gave Martial one of those electronically signed thank you cards from Poch and a signed ball from the lads after his stadium tour.

What a joke!

Let's be honest, this transfer was never likely was it despite the early post season talk.

Sigh....

Well I fully expect to wrap up the next target in the next week or so if this is the case.

Move the fuck on.

Encouraged by the ITK. It seems we might have learned our lesson and not chased a pipe dream until the last day and end up with nobody. Never expected him anyway, unfortunately united can afford to hold onto him until the end of his deal
