With herc saying monday-wednesday, and previous ITK stating we're close on one, which others believe they're close on too, I wonder if the player is Malcolm. He appears to be close to a move to Everton, and we've definitely had ITK on him saying we've been interested (and still are?). If Everton are pushing for the deal, maybe we'll be forced to move soon/have been set a deadline.

Still interested in the unnamed player mentioned the other day that was close but we didn't want word to leak about it.

If announcements are happening early next week, it probably coincides with a few folks returning from the WC. So, I'd imagine Herc is referring to contract signings. Which is also great news. Even if we don't sign anyone this summer, tying down our existing crop of talented players is hugely important. And just because others around us are buying, it doesn't nessecarily mean they are strengthening.
I don't doubt there will be contract announcements but then again would we really need praying hands for those?

As for the carnage in here tonight I can't help thinking some people are losing it big time, might I suggest they read "IF" the poem by Rudyard Kipling for a little bit of perspective

Then perhaps tomorrows thread will be a touch less heated.
G'dnight all.

I think the heat is getting to some of you guys, Do you seriously think Levy has put all his eggs in 1 basket. No one wants to hear we have missed out on top quality players, but I bet we have multiple back ups that are just as good. I'm glad little is coming out about targets, means we learnt from past and keep it closer to our chests. Also stop blaming ITk's info if things don't work out, they are just passing on the info they get at the time were nothing is 100% going to happen.

Malcolm’s agent has today said he wants to go to Italy

There is smoke re Zaha latest. Longshot though, due to history

Guessing this means bigger clubs than Everton are also circling, his team would have to hold a serious grudge to choose them over us.

Assuming by past this means the issues with us lowballing him in the past.

Zaha would be seriously underwhelming, and especially for the expected price. I’d much rather sign no-one than waste money on Zaha, though I know ITK has indicated Poch is a fan.

I hope Zaha is more of an achievable target than Martial proved to be - really don't want this to drag on until deadline day and ultimately be left disappointed.

Zaha also finished the season playing as a striker and played there when he was younger. Plus is homegrown. Ticks a load of boxes.
Zaha is not a PL quality striker. Winger, yes. But I really hope we aren't going to spend a fortune (because that's what it would take) on someone who imo is unlikely to be an upgrade on Moura.

Dear me, 16 pages...

To those who assume that the Martial thing means that we start from scratch, come on. The club will have been tracking targets with a greater or lesser degree of interest for the last year or more - Martial has been on the list for 3 years or something like that, Zaha a similar amount of time. There's (almost) no reason to think that any player will suddenly be yanked from the 'available' pile. The club will have had scouting reports on dozens of players of comparable styles, experience, potential, abilities, temperaments and so on prepared. Martial seems to have been at the top of the forward list, and now he's off the table. So we move on, but it's just not the case that we're starting afresh. The club knows what's required, and so we look more closely at the next name on the list (perhaps Zaha), who the club will know huge amounts about, and may only be second on the list on the slimmest of margins.

Not surprised by Martial news from Herc and frankly not disappointed at all. I never could see how he was an upgrade on Son. Similar players. Looking forward to new ITK. Keep it up guys!

Really you lot need to take ITK in good faith. Losing your shit over Martial is embarrassing. As for the being brave bit, we all know the WC has complicated an already compromised shortened window and the idiot prices are making it harder to deal.

We didn’t get to where we are after all the dark years by spending like drunken sailors and we have done it without financial doping. Trust the club to deal within its means. Keeping the squad together that has got us top four placing and the manager were priorities for me. That and the new stadium. Steady as she goes. I don’t see how this formula won’t work in the future.

If anything,it would be more of a son replacement IMO. If son doesn't win the Asian games we need him replaced by next season as will have his military service due I think.

Feels like I’ve clicked on the Summer 2016 ITK Archive thread.....first Martial, now Zaha and nobody wants Sissoko now or then :bored:

There must be something else being done under the radar.....he says, hopefully more than believingly :cautious:
