Perhaps he intends to change the way we play once he has the suitable players for the new system ?
Why did we buy Lucas Moura if he isn't suited for our system? Why are we extending Lamela and Son if they don't fit our system?

Or maybe one just needs to look at Son(and our other wide players) and it’s not a far reach that Zaha, while exciting, is far from necessary given our other potential requirements.

Disagree. We have two players who provide width and pace, and that's Sonny and Lucas (i'm excluding our full-backs here). Alli and Eriksen are brilliant but very different players (so too Grealish) and Sissoko is useless.

In theory, we'd love to have two players for every position. If Son or Lucas pick up a long-term injury, suspension or are having a bad patch (one if not all three of these things is almost guaranteed to happen) then we're back to square one again.

It's why Liverpool signed Shaqiri (yes, he's much cheaper), as they got incredibly lucky that Salah or Mane picked up no major injuries last year. Hell, even City have further strengthened in that position with Mahrez, and they're already fairly stacked as it is.

We have two wingers/wide forwards. We desperately need at least one more in that position.

I don't know. But if you are looking for ITK - you are in the wrong thread...

Zaha plays best on the left. Son plays best on the left. Unless we are going to play with two left-wingers, we are either going to play one in a weaker position - on the right ahead of Lucas and Lamela, or they are going to rotate in their preferred position.

Unless you think Zaha is coming in to replace Dele or Eriksen...
No i see him coming in to play left, right or as a striker if needed. And by the way ITK is posted in the player threads aswell ?

Personally id like him, which doesn't matter. Apparently poch does want him so that would be for him to sort out.

We do not have a player that can beat their man as easily as Zaha does (arguably Sonny is the closest as we havent seen too much of Moura as yet), usually the only way people can stop him going past them is to foul him, which will get us tonnes of free kicks in dangerous positions.

I'm a real fan of his mostly because of the flair factor, his feet are absolutely ridiculous...and the tricks are productive, not just for show.

Pace, strength, outrageous skill and also a home grown player...I like this rumour the best of any player we've been linked with.

Hope this has the legs...please not fucking deadline day again though.

Son has double-digit goals in 5 of the last 6 seasons across Bundesliga and PL.

Zaha has 0 double-digit goal seasons ever

Son has 72 goals in 240 senior matches (including 30 for Spurs in 99 matches)
Zaha has 35 goals in 269 senior matches

It not even close.

Currently son is better stats wise no doubt about it. But as I said yesterday I think Zaha has the ability to reach a higher level than son. With the service he’d get from our MF he could be incredible IMO

The fact that Zaha plays for a struggling palace side fudges this stats imo. Would son have scored as many if he played for palace the last 3 seasons?

Poch rarely plays more than one winger/inside forward, why do we need 4 of them?

I think he would more be backup to Kane plus an option out wide. Kills 2 birds with one stone. Same thing as Martial.

That said I agree that it's not necessary given that we already have Lamela, Son, and Lucas and only one of them at most is starting at the moment. I wish we would just sign someone like Thiago Alcantara (what we really need) and be done with it.

Serioiusly, now that @Hercules has told us that Llorente will probably end up as a "giveaway", let's try to include him as a sweetener in any Zaha deal.

When he was playing regularly in a side built to his strengths, he scored 15 goals in 33 games for Swansea. A goal return anywhere near that could be the difference between staying up and relegation for Palace next season.

£40 million plus Llorente plus Sissoko (who's a decent fit for a Hodgson 4-4-2 as he works hard and lacks technical quality, precisely the kind of player Roy has spent a career coaching).

That's a decent deal.

I'd also loan or sell them Janssen if they preferred him to Llorente. He's another player who could prosper with regular football under Hodgson.
I can only admire your brazen attempt to sell Palace a load of bollox and tell them they've got a good deal.

I predict a riot. Not in Trumpton.

Zaha knows palace are going to struggle this season. No signings, RLC has gone back to chelsea and they have no money to spend. They couldnt win a game or score a goal without him at the start of the season.

I would like him here but it has to be the right deal. 70m is not. If we can pay 35 and throw in couple of players then I would be happy but roy or palace aren't going to accept players like llorente, janssen or sissoko becuase they wont offer much to the attacking part of his team.

Everton signing Richarlison for 50 million british pound sterling.Yes, you read that correctly.

If that is the going rate, 70 million for zaha is a bargain
