The Goat says 'there's interest in signing' Maguire. If he's available, so there should be.

It doesn't mean we've dropped all interest in everyone else and will be spending every remaining moment of the window chasing Maguire and eventually failing to get anyone.

Our interest might last no longer than one quick query and 'for that money?! No chance!' then we move on.

Chill, people.

I’d imagine that’s exactly how it would pan out

Can’t see us spending £50mill plus on a centre back who essentially plays in Jan’s Position....

Anyone else find this highly coincidental that we are interested in Maguire just as it is reported Manure are going after him instead of Toby ? I think this is all mind games.

If latest ITK is accurate then I’d rather we spend nothing and do some deals for next summer in the way the Scousers did last year. For example, sign de Ligt and de Jong from Ajax for next summer. Better to take this route and use this window to clear out the accumulated dross than to panic and buy more over priced dross only to perpetuate the cycle. DL will eventually be right in that price inflation can’t continue at this rate forever but it could take a long time for the bubble to burst and until then he is continually wrong footed, looking at last year’s prices.

I'm still holding on to hope that this TW will all work out okay in the end. But every day that grows less and less likely

Don’t we have the LCB covered in Verts. If Toby leaves then we should be looking for a RCB

Think we will see a mental deadline day. Teams across europe will know this is the last chance to get top dollar for their players so will be willing to do a deal. Whether any players we're interested in will be available is anyones guess though.

Jan Vertonghen is 31, HM 25...
so there’s perhaps a degree of future planning involved, never mind covering injuries with flexible players.

Was wondering if Maguire would come up as one of the below the radar ones. Remember reading a couple of weeks ago that Leicester ITKs said we were in for him, but there wasn't even a player thread!

Makes sense, home grown, was excellent for Leicester and England. Decent age for a CB and is a good footballer despite his size.

Seems weird that Leicester would sell him, especially at a price we would be willing to pay. Release clause maybe? Although they have let a few players leave to the top 6, even Vardy would have been allowed to join Arsenal.

Have we had any ITK regarding Sissoko leaving? People keep mentioning him in this thread leaving but I doubt we would sell him if Dembele is sold. Too many CMs leaving at once without replacements

Was there previous ITK about the use of Josh and Marcus in the fret team squad ? It seems neither are in the America squad ?

We shouldn't sign people off the back of a good International tournament imo. There's no value there and things often end in disappointment. We should be trying to sign players before tournaments, like we did with Modric all those years ago.

Our scouts aren't cutting it any more imo.

seems like the general consensus from itk's is that we need to sell first and levy is getting levy'd by the window closing early, but on the other hand we hear we will spend, i think we will probably have to take a bit of a hit on Sissoko, Llorent and Janssen, if thats the case and we need to free up space and be 5-10 mil out of pocket then for once levy will have to accept it imo. going to be a nail biting time but we need to invest in the squad.

totally agree

someone never read the opening post:X3:, and with the staff bit in your profile, hope your not the 1st ever to feel the A&C stick:whistle:

We had ITK on him last summer when he was leaving Hull. Since then he has been superb for Leicester and was a top performer at the World Cup. It's not reactionary interest.

Didn't know that we had prior interest in him, but my point was more about trying to scout players and buy them before they reach Virgil Van Dijk 75m quid territory (which HM has no doubt reached since his hyped up WC performances).

Why on earth would Leicester sell him to us? I like HM but buying anyone off the back of the WC is just short sighted and smacks of poor transfer strategy and/or desperation. Surely he would be over priced massively as well.

he had a very good season at Leicester, he was one of their standout players.
