I could be wrong but have a feeling we weren’t even regarding him as ITK as he wouldn’t reveal his source to the mods or something.

Name sort of gave it away though.
Im 99% sure he was verified by mods.

EDIT his info made it into the read only as far back as 2012 when he stated lloris had signed and we were working on Willian so he has definitely been verified by mods

I'd really love to know why it takes so long to sign someone like Grealish which can hardly be called the mother of all transfer deals.

What annoys me....is that it's taking so long to get Grealish over the line, and it's the only player we are linked with, that fans will go mental when he does sign. But in reality this Grealish isn't good enough for what we needed this window.

I hope for all our sakes Grealish is the most underwhelming of all the deals that we do this summer. Of course I then hope he turns into a huge success once he gets onto the pitch.

That's the thing...the state of this window has made the breakdowns over Grealish 100 times worse.

Because:
  • They are reluctant to sell him
  • Would only sell him for financial reasons
  • He was away on holiday
  • Their owner and his finances went AWOL
  • They've been through a takeover/investment
  • Their manager had an uncertain future
All in the last 4 weeks.

Why do people think it's an easy transfer? Far from it

Think that was why he stopped going in the RO more recently.

Just because it's Jack Grealish from the Championship doesn't mean it's not a difficult deal, particularly given the shitshow at Villa over the last few weeks.

How would it benefit them at all to sell him before the new owners come in? What if, as rumoured, Villa were demanding 40m for him? Should we just pay that simply to get a transfer over the line and appease impatient people like you? There are a million other things similar to this that could be delaying negotiations.

I swear some people are completely fucking incapable of nuance or putting aside their self-entitlement when it comes to these things.

Poor Jack, wriggling on the end of Levy's line. Sorry Jack just waiting to see if a bigger fish comes along.

I don't read the Grealish situation into Hercules itk, I am convinced we aren't going to drop out.

Appreciate you passing over this information and giving your opinion. - totally see where you're coming from.

However until the 'primary target' is revealed, I personally remain skeptical that this is the case.

Feels like Villa are now asking for more than we wanted to pay and just as we're told that Villa want more money, it just so happens we had a different primary target all along anyway.
Well if you think this is PR spin coming from the club you couldn't be more wrong. Again though it's only opinion of someone close to this particular deal.

Most of the annoyance regarding the 'Grealish back up plan option' seems to be related to the suggestion it may only see one midfielder join the club, whereas a fair few would like an Eriksen back up and a deeper centre mid. This seems to have led to the concern that Grealish could be our only addition if he's a back up plan.

Not sure why its led to this, but just a guess. Either that or everyone is losing their minds (defo a possibility).

Not only do they think it's an easy transfer but also that it's all Daniel Levy's fault we haven't signed him yet

Agree with this. IMO we need a CM and an Eriksen rotation option more than another attacking player. Obviously wouldn't say no to Zaha, as I think he's a very good player but with a limited budget I'd prefer we concentrate on the weakest areas first.

Graelish (AM) and Kovacic (CM) - would be excellent. I doubt the latter will happen though.

Fair enough if that's the case. We surely have to start making some decisions soon, time is ticking...

Yeah this is basically where I'm at.

I thought we were planning to sign a CM, a first choice attacking mid/forward, and Grealish. So that’s why people are disheartened by the back-up plan news, because it seemed as though Grealish was always a bonus signing as opposed to a possible main event. The news when viewed from that angle is that Grealish may end up being the big midfield signing, if things don’t materialise with this secret main target (and let’s be honest, they usually don’t).

Further to that, it suggests that we are the ones delaying the JG signing, which always leaves the opportunity for Villa to cancel the deal if they so choose, or for him to become disillusioned with waiting. Potentially leaving us with no main secret target, and no Grealish.

Again, saying Levy can’t win is a bit off. We haven’t made any transfers at all so late into the window, and we have an illustrious history of falling short on ambitious deals when we try and pull them together late in the window. It’s hard not to be sceptical of this approach.

Cheers for the info though Trix.
