Quite conflicted on buying a new CM now. With so much potential in winks Onomah Amos TOB Skipp it’s slmost tempting to give dembele one more season and let the rest fight it out to see if one can really step up. Although winks is the most likely be interesting to see if any of the others could stake a serious claim. Just so much more satisfying than spunking £50m on someone.

I'd be careful about reading too much into the pre-season friendlies.

We smashed Roma at WHL the summer before the infamous '2 points from 8 games' start to the season, which ended with the team bottom of the league in October and the manager getting sacked.

I know the cameras are always on these games now, but let's call it what it is - a training exercise.

Agree with the other comments about shape though, and it's nice to see Poch trying a few different ideas. They could prove very useful in the season.

I don’t think we should sell him, he wasn’t used properly when he came on last season either. Doubt we’d get much cash for him anyway.

We'd get sod all for him really. Much more valuable to us as a playable asset, in my opinion. If he can get a little bit of confidence up, he can still do a job when required. Seems popular amongst the players too, which is important (although they all seem to get on great, which I love).

My comments are clearly not based on one friendly match. But last night was a gentle reminder we have bags of potential in CM and how players can improve after a Poch pre season.Trust me if we’d lost last night the ITK thread would be going mental today.

We should spend money on a proper striker to bare the load with Harry (as he is WILL burn out) and do with Foyth what we've done with Dier and turn him into a DM/CB utility.

He would end up being our best DM; he has absolutely everything to be a beast there.

Poch needs to get a bit creative.

Anyone got a link? Haven’t seen these quotes.

I think the performance of the team was good. The result was not important. It's pre-season and it's about being fit, to set all the principles you are going to develop during the season. Of course it's always better to win because it's a better feeling. I think today I am so happy because we worked very hard. We were a little tired because we've been working so, so hard. I am very proud because we translated the image that we are constructing and that is the most important thing.

This is the bit I was referring to, could be misinterpreting but I'm taking the 'image' as the new team shape. It could well just be team ethos. Guess the next couple of games will show if it is a formation we are working on.

I think he should use the 4-3-3 and the England style 3-5-2 as primary shapes. It suits the players we have available at the moment. We don't have any midfielders with a complete enough skillset to play in a midfield 2.

I have to agree. Son and Moura (plus Martial/Zaha) all seem to have potential to play with Kane in a 2 if we opt for the back 3.

Think its going to be really hard to keep Lucas out of our best 11 this upcoming season. Based off what he showed last night and what he did last season in his limited time.

how have Dortmund managed to get 7 points from two games......corporate sponsors already bored with the rules of soccerball?
They've played three, won two and lost on on penalties. The competition has 3 points for a win, 2 for PK win, 1 for PK loss, 0 for loss.

I don’t think DM is really our issue although I’d like us to have a more ball playing option there which may be winks. It’s really a successor to dembele and a more creative force in CM. Again that could be winks still not 100% exactly what winks is. Or maybe Onomah, the other kids TOB Amos Skipp are more deep lying.
