After reading that I'm not having anyone say it's ok for us to end this window without adding quality.

Poch 100% wants/expects his squad improved, and the info out there is suggesting the opposite is more likely. Think that's twice now he's made sly comments that could be aimed at that Cullen statement.

That is Poch's much classier way of saying exactly what Mourinho is.

Get the feeling that he’s probably been offered a list of players by the hierarchy who fit their agenda but not Pochs, and he’s vetoed them as they bring nothing new and don’t improve the team.

Either that or everything is going to happen in one day, i.e. announcements

Probably the worst thing will be that the team performances will most likely reflect Poch's mood, that will be disastrous for our season, we already have a large number of first teamers knackered from a relentless 12 months and now it looks as though there'll be no incomings to take the pressure off them!! This really isn't good!!

No doubt the bloody Martial-Toby situation, seems to be holding everything up our end.

If Pochettino resigns after no signings then it wouldn't surprise me to see some Emirates style boycotts at the new stadium. Not saying I agree with it, but it could happen.
He's not going to resign lol

Look at Conte last season, from Champions to a shambles (until a strong finish where Conte probably knew he was gone in the summer).

You people need to stop losing your shit and chill. We’ve got this. We were never going to sell the fucking good china but we’ll get players in.

Maybe not, but I hardly doubt he will be putting out strong denials next time a big job comes up.

Lets see though, I never imagine we'd be in the situation. Only thought we needed 2 at start of summer and there no way that wouldn't happen. :nailbiting:

I think you're probably right. I think he cares too much for the club to do that at the start of the season.

But I do think this time he would jump at the chance to manage elsewhere. Could even be United if Jose gets the chop.
Exactly, and to not recognise this is hubris. We shouldn’t even be in this situation, with his new contract and the stadium, but here we are. While I admire posters on here who remain optimistic about signings, we are seriously running out of time with each passing day so that it’s becoming harder not to feel really, really concerned. And we’ve not had a single drop of itk in the last six months that suggests Poch feels academy players are ready to step up and that new signings aren’t necessary.

That analogy literally makes 0 sense in this situation though.

We are going to sell the best cb in the prem to united, we are trying to sell dembele and rose, we can't get rid of the deadwood and we have too many players hg or not to bring players in.

And we might find ourselves selling the best china in the next year if things get fucked enough

I think this is key in the comment.

"But of course football is always about adding more quality every season like different clubs, our contenders are doing. If we cannot do that we need to try to be creative and of course the help from the younger players would be amazing."

As i read it he basically says that we need to add quiality i.e. players for the starting XI, if they are not on that level Poch will play the youngsters instead of the the players he wants out. I think thats a bit of a threat to be honest.

How do you work out that is a threat ? Why not take the man at his word and accept he is prepared to play the youngsters where necessary and where it is appropriate to do so because they are good enough. He has made no mention of not playing certain players.

This window seems to be a perfect storm of circumstances. The world cup, the window ending early, not being able to shift deadwood, ridiculous prices, and the apparently sudden need for HG players.

All are conspiring against our already fragile transfer policy, making it even harder to get stuff done.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but this summer shows us that "punts" like GKN aren't quite so risk free, if they prevent us getting quality new players in.

Levy is going to have to take a hit on our deadwood. It's unavoidable if we are to get real quality in and improve the first team. I'm certain we will do some business, but I refuse to believe we are in some anti-Goldilocks type zone, whereby we are uniquely unable to improve our first team, while every other club is able to do so.

I wonder if Donna thinks she was right to come out with that statement after this.

It was particularly irrititating that she felt she was in a position to tell us what Poch’s remarks didn’t relate to without explaining what they did actually mean. She should have just said ‘you’ll have to ask him’.

If Levy ends this window without having made proper investment in the squad he’s risking disharmony, a disillusioned manager and squad, and angry supporters. Which would be a very sad situation to be in on the verge of moving into a new stadium. Let’s hope he sees the big picture and does the right thing.

The irony of any poster on this site intimating that Levy might not see see the big picture...

I don’t think we can take him at his word in this case. We have a big enough squad that we don’t need to rely on youngsters. I wouldn’t go so far as to interpret it as a threat, but he’s making a political statement here directed at Levy in my view.

I could see him quitting before the season at this point like Pulis did at Palace. And i wouldnt blame him at all. Levy gives him absolutely no backing whatsoever. He got duped into signing a new contract by Levy. We need to be sold ASAP if we want any chance of being back where we are now any time soon. No manager will ever want to manage us after seeing the way Levy treats the best manager we’ve had in years. Disgusting. Get the FUCK out of my club, Levy.

I fear for Poch's longevity at Spurs if this window ends up like everyone thinks it will.

The signs really are not great.

Staying at Spurs will do his reputation no good. He is down as one of the top coaches in Europe, we are lucky to have him but he won't stay and neither should he if he isn't backed. He deserves better.

For some backwards reason I’ve very glad we are all aligned that we’d be disappointed but understand he deserves better.

Yep I agree.

I think he's saying that whilst he is sure the youngsters would step-up, that shouldn't have to be the case.

Seems fairly clear that promises were made to Poch and whilst we don't know the full reasons behind why they aren't being kept, they indeed haven't been kept so far.

Yes there's a week to go, but I'd now be very surprised if we did more business than maybe one in and one out. And that's not enough for where Levy seems to want us to be.

If it stays as it is, we best hope that no big teams lose their managers this season as otherwise I suspect Poch will jump ship, and to be honest I wouldn't blame him.
