Of course nobody knows for sure. However, you dont have to be brain of Britain to have a sensible guess. Poch is on record as saying, the club needs to be brave, to do things in a different way, to get players in early. Well none of that has happened. Today he says he is not the one to ask why the club hasn't added to the squad. Would you be happy if your boss had convinced you to sign a new contract on the understanding your ambitions would be met, only to find out things remain the same?

so you totally ignored that we went in for de Ligt and Ajax moved the goal post, you've ignored we went for Martial but Man U refuse to deal. what do you expect Levy to do buy others that are not Poch choices?

We have invested money in the traing ground/stadium rather than the first team. We have had roughly a net spend of £0 on players over the last 10 years yet have climbed from midtable to cl regulars. I'd say our transfer dealings in that context have been better than any club in england.
And what has that gotten us as far as silverware? Are you rooting for the team on the field or the business practices off it?

I understand there is a balance that has to be achieved but Christ some people act like they're talking about a stock portfolio rather than a football team.

I more take issue with people who see 0 fault with him.

Who are those people? I think even the most ardent Levy supporter will say he isn't perfect. Just because someone doesn't buy in to the doomsday scenario and argues against some of the OTT nonsense spouted on here, that doesn't mean they think our dear leader is perfect. He is far from it.

the thing is neither Zaha or Martial can change that build up when we attack, except if it's a counter which doesn't happen too often v bus parkers unless they are 2 or 3-0 down. Zaha doesn't face defences with 11 men behind the ball, and Martial just doesn't get to play. what we really needed or need is someone that can do what Bale used to do get it on his left foot score from anywhere
It's not so much specific names - Poch would have known where are our weaknesses lay from last season and must have identified at least one or two players that he would have felt could offer us something different and so far, zilch. I admire Levy but I think that some people are too accepting of whatever he does.

I more take issue with people who see 0 fault with him, I think he has done so much good for the club but nothing irritates me more with people not just levy but people in general than when they repeat the same errors repeatedly with seemingly no lessons learn't or adjustments made, it feels like an ego thing especially when we think about the positions these people are in. I've also been critical of poch failing to learn from his own errors but the way I see it right now is that Levy is not improving when it comes to transfer windows and that can't be overstated in my opinion.
But sometimes people mistake method for errors, we can only pay this much money is not necessarily an error and the solution is not to pay more money and too many people think it is.
Hopefully we will get Grealish for a fair price rather than the inflated price they first asked for him and those millions are then available to put towards another signing, perhaps a club record signing like last summer. As I've said before I don't believe Levy does ego, that's not good business and this, to him, is strictly business, sometimes it doesn't come off and when that happens I am as disappointed as the next fan, I'm not a true BsoDL but I can live with it.

We've been unlucky going for silverware losing loads of semi finals and a couple of finals. But our league form is better than any time since the 60's. Or are league games not played on the pitch?

If you said levy should have invested in the team rather than the stadium training ground that would be a valid opinion. But saying he is terrible in the transfer market is just rubbish.

We have one player in our starting 11 that we've purchased the last 2 years. That's not a great track record. Yes he's been good to get here, Poch has had a ton to do with that as well. But he's stagnated since we've gotten to this next level as a club.

Levy knows what he's doing....
He's prolonging this one.
When we were first linked with Grealish most on here were iffy about him... By the time I Levy gets this over the line we will all be creaming like we just signed Messi
Master tactics by Danny....lol.

The problem is if we were unable to upgrade our squad, and we do not improve on the pitch, Poch may go at the end of the season and take a whole lot of our playing staff with him. A glamorous stadium is worthless (for the fans) unless the standard on the field of play matches it.

No. but Levy is being Levy. When have we ever done any business early? He thinks the longer you leave it, better chance of getting a deal. Poch said. be brave, do things different, not just do what you normally do Daniel

What you mean is that he hasn't gone out and spent huge sums bring in mega star players.
That is because we are building a new stadium.

Now think about this and answer honestly.
Do you want a new chairman or new owners that will invest large amounts of money in the team?
If you want a new owner (which i suspect you do) then your issue is with lewis not levy. Levy isn't a billionaire and his personal shares are less than 10% of the club.

So if...
We don’t buy...
Don’t improve...
Lose our manager...
Lose our best players...

That’s a big ‘if’.

Hey, Baz, didn't your dad say the new stadium wouldn't effect transfers?

I say this knowing the answer and out of interest to see how you bamboozle your way around it :D

Granted, but I’d contend that Poch has continually produced a team that is greater than the sum of its parts, and goes a long way to explaining where we are now.

Ok i'll give it a shot.

He said that the stadium will not have an effect on the transfer budget but didn't say what the budget was. After 10 years it seems that budget was £0.

Also he afterwards said that the stadium was financially unviable. After the whole os bid fiasco we got the 106 payments knocked off and were allowed to reduce the amount of affordable housing that needed to be built.

Personally i would like a new owner that would invest money into the club. That bloke looking at chelsea would be nice. But levy has done his job (which was to get the traing ground/stadium built while staying competitive on the pitch) very well.

An admirable effort, but nah, no coconut.
