I hope the 3 weeks holiday, the players have been given (after the world cup) weren't like my typical holidays. IE boozing it up, eating twice as much as required, then sleeping in til noon, then spending a full 1/2 hour on the bog. If that's what the players HAVE done, we're in deep doo-doo's.

Luckily, I suspect, the players are highly disciplined and have been training and watching what they eat & drink during that period, except Eric Dier, of course, who I reckon has tonked a few cold ones and sunk a share of curry's.

Players are usually given individual training programmes to do whilst on holiday, and have benchmarks they are expected to meet when they come back.

I’m not worried about the performance, hopefully it will encourage the youth players out there to dig in and realise how much room there is for them to still grow.

My concern is the same one I had before the game kicked off. All pros say how important a pre-season is (esp for a high intensity team like us) yet most of our squad will only have 1 week and no actual games preparation before the season kicks off

The world cup nine couldn't have played yet whatever happened.

Wanyama, Lamela, Sissoko, Foyth, Winks have all got injured (so, 14 unavailable)

Eriksen and Sanchez got a breather. Considering they dashed back straight onto tour, had no initial comeback training, and have done a fuckload of travelling this season, probably a sensible move. (16)

And that's without counting the 'next in line' such as Onomah (injured) and CCV (going?).

So 16 first team players, say 75%, missing whatever happened tonight. Like fuck it's about not signing players blah blah blah. Given what we probably need we'd have a couple of players in basically, massive difference......

Due to a culmination of factors, weak teams were inevitable.

Rubbish your question was clearly a snidey remark and not geninue.asking a member since 2008 with over 5000 posts if it was their first season

FYI, on mobile it just shows a username and the post. I didn't think to do an Experian credit check on you before asking a simple (and common) question, based on your lack of understanding surrounding friendlies o_O

He always has to 'take a leak' when it's his round.
Bet he loves getting the round in, that way he can tell all the bar staff how the pub industry is dying and that they'll all be jobless and eventually homeless.

He's probably getting @paulcumpstone a tap water and a packet of roast tofu crisps to go with another tap water. Groovy

"FFS Dele", "This one's on Poch", "This one's on Levy", "Lloris can't kick", "We're shit at corners", "We need a Modric type player", "We need a VDV style signing" and "Dier is a better CB than CM" or "Dier is a better CM than CB" are my favourite SC clichés but I'm adding the following to that list: Any win in preseason met with "We're looking good, so many talented youngsters" or any loss in preseason met with "I'm prepared for a long season, our squad is threadbare". You lot are actual nutters.

Lloris - Vorm
Trippier - Aurier
Davies - Rose
Sanchez - Alderweireld
Vertonghen - Foyth
Dier - Wanyama
Eriksen - Winks
Dembele - Onomah/Sissoko
Lamela - Moura
Alli - Son
Kane - Llorente

There's a quick A and B team based on today's formation. How many of our A & B team started tonight? 1 A team player (played out of position) and 3 B team players, plus one from the bench. A grand total of 4 A/B players started. There's some context on the level of depth we had to go to, C team is probably closer to the mark.
It is a bit worrying, but equally a valid eye opener, we need to look at our squad, would Bennetts have been a better option retained over Georgiou, would Edwards have offered more than Nkoudou?

Is clearly a LW and nothing close to a LB or LWB. He's shown some really good attacking play and I would've hoped to see him play the full game at LW instead of GKN.

It’s the team we fielded that was embarrassing 1 week before the season starts, not the result

Anyone interested or worried about any pre season results is a knob head
Our players are legally entitled to a holiday. Would you rather we’d forced those 9 players to only take two weeks off so they could have played in this vital Girona game?

Real Madrid are beating juve 3-1 60 mins. So barring a miracle juve come back or inter beating Athletico 4-0 we’ve won the ICC trophy.

And please don’t tell me it’s irrelevant, cause according to the last 20 pages it’s the biggest cup we will win all season ?

As a Hong Kong Spurs fan I disagree. The biggest cup we won is the Kitchee cup!

I’d give them all at least a month off

Our lack of activity in the transfer market this summer has been shocking

All the worse after this World Cup with all are players in it until the latter stages

Our pre season for this coming campaign is disastrous

We'll be ok because they are top players. If ok is ok then ok

Not sure Poch and certain players think like that though
