United haven't only become interested in Alderweireld this past week so he makes a decent point. Not sure why Levy has left it this late unless Poch was determined that he wanted Martial as part of the deal. It's pretty obvious without having any ITK that Levy knows he will never get a better price for him than in this window so he's going to have to sell. Let's hope that we can get that money reinvested quickly but in a player that Poch actually wants.
yea...hope

Why does everyone assume that Levy is at fault here?

Or that United have come in and just bullied through with one bid of £60m last night?

Surely it's possible that just like in our other dealings, we've been talking all summer, and only now are United willing to meet our demands. And actually Levy hasn't blinked first, but he's got a bloody good deal for a guy who's been unfit for most of the year, and available for £25m in a year.

Exactly. When we have to play Sanchez & Foyth or worse Sanchez & CCV at the back (due to an injury or 2) against the likes of Barca or Real in the CL and they hit us harder than Arsenal have been in recent years... maybe then it will sink in for a few people on here.

Kane got played in the league due to injuries.... Look how that turned out!

Both Sanchez and Foyth have alot of potential, but until they play regular we won't know how far they will go. Could end up like Kane, Alli, Dier and Winks and make it even though there were talk they wouldn't be good enough at the time.

1. Dier could play there
2. If you took the 2 best CBs out of most teams and then made their backups face Madrid/Barca, it would be just as bad
3. Keeping Toby isn't guaranteed to prevent the scenario you've outlined, he could theoretically be in the injury room too after tearing another hamstring.

Also.....4. Could we really trust a disgruntled Toby or more importantly would Pochettino trust him? No point in having a world class CB that's not 100% committed.

Can we take this moment to agree Toby’s hair looks like utter shit?

I pretended I thought it looked cool for years but Jesus Christ that’s a 29 year old grown man with that on his head

I don't know where the idea that he has great hair came from. His hair is shit, even if he stays it's shit.

Not disagreeing with your general point but didn't Sanchez play pretty much every game for us last year, while Toby only managed about 8 decent games plus a few more looking extremely rusty?

No Martial in return? ? same old story

We will never be seen as a big club by others when we just get bullied by other ones

What, like Arsenal with Sanchez, Chelsea with Matic and Costa, Liverpool with Coutinho...?

Christ, even City missed out on their first choice signings of Sanchez and Jorginho.

You're not on your own. I couldn't give a shit. It just seems the latest thing for people to get angry about and hurl a few turds about the place to show how much they care.
He had to go certainly although one hopes that there was a method to leaving it this late in the window. Frustrating if United do let Martial go to Chelsea but that's their shout. I know that you do get the 'it's all about to melt down' mob but people are entitled in general to have a moan over the way that transfers in and out have been going. There's a happy medium between being totally negative and thinking that everything that happens at the club is for the best, so to speak.

1. Not if he's needed at DM.
2. If you noticed... Sanchez was still listed so it wasn't our 2 best CBs out. Christ if it was our 2 best injured it would be even worse!
3. I wasn't really referring to Toby staying... more that not replacing him I feel leaves us short.

He did, and probably should have said he came in and played better than most expected too. My point was more that even if we lose a player who is great for us, we might have better potential waiting already ( as the players I mentioned before )

So being brave apparently means strengthening our rivals and hoping for the best. Brilliant.

On the other hand, at least we'll finally get to find out what he did that made Poch write him off. Every cloud.

Arsenal got a player they wanted in return

Chelsea were not asking for anyone in return for Matic and were happy to sell

Chelsea didnt sell Costa to a rival

Coutinho handed a transfer request in...wasnt sold to a rival either and was made to stay until it suited Liverpool and they had got a really good player lined up to replace

City won the league and signed Mahrez to add to their quality squad

We wanted Martial and Sancho in return for Walker and Toby...we have not got either and still sold the players to rivals. 2 players may I add who were part of the best back 4 in the league previously.

Are you just ignoring the facts to suit your pro-levy agenda?

Whilst in theory yes that outcome is possible..... how often does something like that really happen? It could easily (and probably more likely) go the other way and a good young player like Foyth could get ruined because he is thrown in too early.
