All jokes aside we buy the majority of players in the last week of the window.

Sometimes this works out and others it doesn’t. There must be a reason for it, most likely that teams having to sell drop their price or people become available is my guess.

Frustrating though when other teams seem to get players in easily.
I dont think players get cheaper in the final week, maybe payment terms or get a more flexible

It’s not hard to get players in to improve a team like West Ham or Arsenal. It’s quite hard to bring in players that will improve a team like us.

Other clubs are in a different position - Man City has oil money,Man Utd is hugely profitable and Liverpool is run by nutters.

I still think he'd be an intelligent signing. Young, English, plenty of potential, good Eriksen understudy, with an ability to carry the ball upfield and either execute a pass, or at least draw a foul.

ITK's have stated that Levy leaves it late because prices get lower at the end of the window (clubs, players, and agents get desperate), that's why he leaves it late usually.
Dead on and thats why we end up with last day signings like Sissoko amd Lorente. The genius knows what hes doing.

But their agents don’t have the time anymore to hoik them round further. Maybe the offer is on the table already and old poker face says take it or leave it? At a certain time it becomes stick or twist - option 1, 3 or 3. It works both ways.

Both players must have been on the ‘for consideration’ list and the club would have known how much etc. Even if they were option F & G.

As for Llorente, most (on here) were satisfied that this guy was sufficient as a back up option for Kane. Both full blown internationals. If FL didn’t work out then that is a combination of all sorts of things. Sisokko - we knew what sort of player he is beforehand.

Maybe just maybe if we had offered 10% more then the amount we thought they were worth we could have bought one of the options from A-E and there re sale value would have been a lot more then options F&G who we cant give away.

I'm sure it could be a good signing and all but it's just not good enough. With Toby going we still need a CB. With Wanyama and Dembele and Winks often injured we need a CM. We still need a WF.

Grealish should have just been the icing on the cake.

If they want Premier league cash then they will have to. How many clubs outside of the Prem can afford to throw huge money around for players? 5-6 maybe. Sell now or sell at a much reduced rate a week or two later.

I can really see this transfer happening. He ticks the boxes for potential, sell on value, HG and Bruce is obviously open to the sale at the right price and whilst I know that he won't have overall control of player sales, his comments this week were presumably echoing the position of the owners.

Totally different thing. All depends on how important they were perceived as to be within the squad. I maintain Llorente was a probable back up (like Chelsea whereas) MS I don’t know. Was he seen as first team starter?

They are spending the clubs money. Levy and Lewis are not spending a dime of their own money on this project. The club is a sustainable business on its own. The owner only loans in(last time they did so was to float the Bale money for a few weeks before he was sold) and takes out through salary or payback of loans. The club is paying for the stadium and the club pays for transfers. The club takes in from tv money, commercial, merch and player trading. I think mostly everyone knew the stadium would effect the window despite what ITK said. And it will effect transfers the next few years as well as we'll have a ~£400m loan from the banks to pay off. However, I dont think anyone really expected it to be like this where we do no business and i dont think it is smart to do absolutely no business in the opening summer. You'd think making a splash to open with could jumpstart things and pay dividends for you on the commercial side.

What you say is true, and we all thought that DL would make a splash signing. Now, whilst there is still a few days to go, and I really do hope he signs a player or two, I am not convinced that he will sign anyone. I have, sadly, come around to the view that he has got the club as far as he is prepared to, i.e. top 4 and CL the last 3 years, and once the stadium is finished he will sell. I really hope I'm wrong, but them's my onions!

The two players we are "supposed" to be interested in Grealish & Zaha were not at the WC so I think if we were interested we should have pushed for them soon after the season finished. The problem we now face is that other top clubs are looking for this type of player and the price has gone past DL's ceiling. It seems likely that one of them or even both could end up at Chelsea or even Utd if Martial and Pogba go. What I do worry about now is that we end up in the bargain basement and get in a couple of players we don't need. If that was the case I would rather we didn't buy anyone and see what happens, although I think it would be unlikely that we could win a big one PL or CL. Possibly a cup though.

Have we got an exclusivity agreement on this one ? Amazed that no other clubs have come in for him as it must be patently obvious to them that he is for sale and that DL is waiting until they are on their knees at
about 2pm on the 9th

Grealish apparently posed for pics with a fan yesterday and said he was leaving in a few days , probably going to Margate on holiday .

Grealish is the one I think we should get if poss. Its odd cause I think Zaha and Martial are better players, but we need a CM. Hope it happens.

I think you've mixed up different stories. Ross McCormack said he was leaving in a few days, and Grealish apparently said he was staying but didn't seem convincing.

Would be nice if AV would take Janssen or GKN on loan as part of any Grealish deal.
