Bring in Grealish and Lobotka (or another CM) in the next day or two, sell the chaff, continue to make Utd sweat on Toby/Martial. If Utd stump up big cash throw it all at Palace for Zaha, if they relent and send Martial our way then even better.

Optimism is nice.

I wonder if all the "bedwetters" will apologise for their lack of faith...

Feels like this is the Martial backup if Man U don't fall for Levy's bluff on Toby.

Especially as JJ said that Grealish is 'not our first choice' or words to that effect.

It's got to happen first!

I could see us getting the two CMs (say Grealish and Lobotka) and nothing else though, which wouldn't be too sexy but also would have plenty of promise.

My guess on what will happen tonight...

7pm Grealish left out of squad for tonight's game
7:45pm Bruce says "He seems distracted, want players who are focussed on the game."
10pm Bruce says "The lad is off to Spurs, it's pretty much done."

No...because it’s a potentially shit window and pure desperation has changed people’s opinion. Especially as the Martial/Zaha bit is unlikely.

No centre half and a couple of midfield punts

Villa ITK watch:

A bloke has made a couple of posts who actually claims to have heard some 'ITK'.

"I am hearing rumours he's gone, if that's the case expect him not to feature tonight."
"20 million I've heard, **** knows why so low. And it looks as though we are spending that money so can't be ffp related"

Then @tiger666 's mate "Rigo" pops up (who I thought was ITK, but apparently might not be the case) and says "Would you mind informing the folk here where you "heard" such news..."

to which he replies: "Same place I got the Bruce staying info before it became public knowledge, I challenged the 20m but with only half a season performing the way he has been they think that's all he's worth.. Maybe it's got add-ons aswell on performance based stuff and 20 mill is the starting point... we will find out in the course but I'm only repeating a message I got today..."

UPDATE: he's getting absolute pelters for this bit of info and for that reason alone I hope it's true ;)
I'm sure there was an explanation behind how money for JG can go towards Villa's FFP this season as he's club trained etc - and that any purchases can be amortised over contract length meaning that they don't directly effect this season's FFP. Im sure Levy knows the in's and outs which is why he's holding firm on a lower amount.

My guess is:

7pm Grealish named in starting lineup
7:45pm Bruce says "if anyone wants to buy Jack Grealish, they're going to have to pay a premium"
10pm Bruce says after Villa's 3-0 victory "as you can see, with Grealish, we're talking about a top quality player - the kid just scored a hat-trick and is going to cost anyone at least £40-50m"

Villa averaged 1.89 points per game with Grealish starting last season, vs 2.00 points per game when he didn't start.

VillaTalk have now decided it's his fault they didn't get promoted as a result of this, because other factors such as who they were playing and who else they did/didn't have on the pitch are entirely irrelevant.

Kubler-Ross would be having a field day.

I remember when we had similiar situation here. Where the midfielder that averaged the most points was Jenas, and the absolute worst was Luka Modric.

Sánchez is the Toby replacement.
The midfield "punts" plug the gaps that last season people were saying we had (more progressive passing from CM, Eriksen backup/rotation).
An extra forward would be icing on the cake.

Quite right.
The profit on the sale of Grealish is all taken into account in this year’s FFP calculation but the cost of the new players is spread out accords their contracts.

Plug the gaps and a decent signing is icing on the cake...when did we become Bournemouth?
