Interesting way to look at it, Alistair Gold said hed be shocked if grealish starts, in the same way he doesn't believe we're going for lobotka. Hopefully he's wrong about both.

Why did anyone expect anything less than him starting? He played in every friendly Villa played during preseason and we've not heard a single thing about a fee being agreed.

If they had chosen to not play him without a fee being agreed they'd have completely undone all of their hardened stance against us over the last few weeks. Playing him is 100% the right call for them to make

Well there was ITK from Villa's end that he's likely not to feature tonight because they've agreed a £20m deal with us - granted, that info is looking more and more suspect as the seconds pass

I hope we have all come to terms with the fact he's either going to play a blinder tonight and add £10m to his price tag or get injured...

Even if a deal is close they'd have probably had to play him anyway. Dropping him for the first game of the season just takes the gloss off of a new campaign. I'm sure if we want him that much we wouldn't have him starting a game for his current club as a make or break in the deal.

I believe we will still get him but I'm really not surprised to see him start tonight

Talk about clutching at straws, but since he's a boyhood Villa fan, I reckon his reaction at the end of this match will say a lot about whether he expects to leave Villa by the end of the window or not...

Don't do it to yourself George. Just kick back and enjoy the game (y)

Wouldn’t be the first player to be on the pitch and not feature. We’ve had a few of those...

Apparently Villa have a few medicals booked in over the next couple of days. They appear to be spending.

They've got that Axel kid who plays for Man U on loan today and have just agreed a fee for Byran who plays LB/LW for Bristol. They seem to be making moved before they sell someone, that's how I see it with their sudden activity

At least he'll be fully match fit and ready to go if we get deal done. Clearly nowhere near agreement though as no chance either side would risk him starting tonight.

People getting into a flap because Jack Grealish is starting for Aston Villa against Hull City in the Championship....

If Daniel Levy did transfer windows.
