This has to be a goer. If we somehow fail to sign him I don't know how Levy would come back from that. The meltdown...

Buy back option??, surly they mean first refusal?

Yup. I think this is more likely, along the lines of if Spurs were ever to sell Grealish, Villa would have a contractual right to match any bid that we accepted.

Then it would be down to the player to agree terms.

But "buy back clauses" in their literal sense are what Barca and Real Madrid put in their young players' contracts when they sell them, so that they can buy them back at a fixed price if they develop well. Eg Dani Carvajal when he was sold by RM to Leverkusen.

So we’ve waited until 2 days until the transfer window closes to put in our first bid for any player which we know will get rejected.?
Are we seriously on just one big wind up?

I will be disappointed if Grealish is our only signing during this transfer window. He's a good player, there's no doubt about that. But I expected more.

Why would you contemplate believing its the first bid, when Bruce has mentioned several times in the summer that we've not met their valuation (implying we've made offers)

Dunno where this guy got this info from, but he reckons we bid £9m for Grealish initially when they were in trouble - I'd like to say that figure surprises me, but with Levy it absolutely doesn't

"Levy opened the bidding at £9m... (Yes nine million). He did that because he saw us in a position of pure desperation and like the vulture he is, tried to pick our bones for a ridiculously low figure.

The guy (in football terms) is scum.

Well now the shoes on the other foot. Now after a summer of coming up short on deals, it's Spurs who are desperate. Time to return the favour and treat him with the level of disdain he did us. Quote him a ridiculously high figure and sweat him out for the next 48 hours without giving an inch!!"

They seem to forget they are still in a desperate position.

So a shrewd CEO that in his tenure made Spurs go from being in similar position to us to becoming established Top 4 side is doing his job very well.
It'd be nice to have a competent CEO at our club.
This is business ffs, don't understand the hate, he tried to get excellent player for cheap. It didn't pay off this time. He used same strategy before and got Eriksen for 12 million. What a deal.

When this is over, we need to have a serious look at ourselves.

We have run up a player thread to 283 284 pages! For a Championship-level player....

Yes, but at least half of that must be about slagging/defending Levy.

In fact, pick any topic in the transfer forum and there'll be 140 odd pages of slagging/defending Levy, even the ones that get closed on page 1.

We’ve obviously had talks with them for most of the summer.
For a Championship player.??
We’ve only put in an official bid today. Which will get rejected. Truly laughable.

That is quite a paradoxical post. Is he an inferior player, or is he worth so more than the supposed £25m that the bid is laughable?

The club and scouting team includes think so ! Let's just support the player and hope deal gets done!
Well Golly Gee! if the scouting team thinks he's worth over £30m then he must be!

I can still support the player (if we sign him) and think he's not great.
