We couldn't get the players we wanted? Or we couldn't agree with selling Clubs in a crazy market?

To be honest, if we couldn't aquire who we wanted to improve a very good team, I'm fine with that.

No point stock piling players Poch doesn't even want, let alone thinking about trying to move them on in a years time.
True, but all indication is Poch wants Grealish, and £4M or so, we could have gotten him. And if Levy had acted sooner, before the new AV owners came in, we would have gotten him at £25M no doubt.

You have to be objective...really appreciate the ITK, @Hercules @Trix @Breezer @ValenciaYid @Grey Fox and goat been fantastic! I believe things should have happened but they didnt, pointless moaning about cos we still have best keeper in league best striker in league....top defenders and others. Always should be COYS instead of moaning.....we are not Arsenal

We won 3 trophies in the 17 years before Levy. We’ve won 1 trophy in the 17 years since Levy.

ENIC bought the club for what, an outlay of £50 mill? We’re now worth about a billion.

Levy had been cockwomblingly, toxically bad at the football stuff but brilliantly excellent at the business side.

He lucked out with Poch. Remember his previous rep of hiring & firing managers every 18 months? Remember the Saha and Nelsen window?

He needs to take a back seat on the football side & earn his highest paid chairman salary by finding a sponsor for the stadium. Or sell us, which I kind of think was the plan all along.

Be fair he wants to back away from the footballing side and bring a dof in, but poch said no. Also enic's total outlay for spurs was closer to £100m. Lewis has since invested another £50m and tavistock are helping to fund the stadium.

No doubt? Grealish would have been nice to add an option in the squad. We will survive without him.

We havent missed out on any players. No player we wanted went elsewhere because we didn't stump up more cash. The players we wanted didnt move. Whether because they werent for sale. Weren't available to us or were over priced.

The only grey area is perhaps Kovavic. Seemed the right sort of talent for us but Chelsea had something to offer in that deal we didnt.

Hopefully we will see emergence of some youth talent and some form for fringe players. Winks and Moura will add depth that we were missing and Nkoudo has had a decent preseason.

What happens with Toby who knows but hes here now so may as well use him. But I suspect he will be 2nd string due to contract situation.

Obviously not ideal to not bring in a worldy or two. But that would mean outlay of 100million. So we are where we are. COYS

I'm buzzing we didn't sell Toby to a rival. At least we put down a marker there. I know we would of had they offered a huge sum, but I'm glad we gave them no encouragement and acted like a big Club.

The market is fucking daft, levy getting slated but he's a genius. Keeping all our key players, and getting most of them on improved contracts was the most important thing.

I'm sure we would of liked Martial, but we're obviously somewhat restricted given the larger picture concerning the stadium.

Fuck wasting money on players we don't really want just to appease a bunch of fucking babies on here who want some instant gratification around deadline day - and I include myself in that, but I'm standing back and appreciating the bigger picture now.

All the more sweet when we rip it up this season without spending wildly in the transfer market. We'll have that little gem to throw at the rest of them now!

It's not about wasting money. It's about strengthening the team. Wanyama and winks are problems with their injury records. Dembele is struggling. Dier and sissoko and a youngster is who we will have to rely on in cm for a lot of the season. We could and should have strengthened there.

We also have shown no ambition. Kane has said he will stay as long as the club matches his ambition. We have seen our star players heads turned. Eriksen has been rumoured to be asking what he can do to get a move to a big club. Poch will not be happy, whatever face he puts on in public.

Paint it whatever way you want this transfer window was a fuck up.

Is there reasons for this? Yes, stadium eating most of our finances and missing out on naming rights didn't help. But we need to keep pushing on.

Watching Pochettino presser, it's obvious that we weren't going to sign anyone for the sake of signing someone. Case in point, Andre Gomes who has signed on loan for Everton, we could have signed him quite easily and had been linked in the media and ITK but we didn't pull the trigger, same with Grealish we could have overpaid for him and got him but we chose not to.

The season ahead will determine whether it was the right decision but personally speaking, I cannot see signing mediocre players for the sake of it being worth it and it isn't where we should be aiming.

Getting a 1st teamer to improve our first 11 would be incredibly hard, full stop. Maybe players to improve the squad easier but those players have a value and if they are overpriced then we shouldn't buy them imho.

People aren't happy, I get that but we've genuinely a chance of silverware, maybe even a title challenge and we are moving into a state of the art new WHL. Take a step back and realise that things are actually good atm.

In 38 games + cups, we will see if the vitriol and teenage I want strops were worth it COYS

Nobody wants us to buy a mediocre player. What they wanted was to strengthen the team. You can't think there is no footballer in the world available that could strengthen us?

I think that a player that will improve us, who is willing to come, who is willing to accept what we pay and who's club are willing to sell to us is perhaps a smaller pool than many might think.

Not impossible obviously, but not so easy either and with Poch's love of a small squad it would probably also be one in and one out so more risk. All of which combined with clubs not willing to take our fringe players made it all a bit difficult. It's clearly less than ideal but I think it is at least understandable.

I like that we didn’t sell anybody. If you said that 3-4 weeks ago I would be over the moon even if no signings...

It just seems a bit random to me... was that the plan b all along? Have my doubts, but hey - if everybody are on good terms I am happy. Remember; we could have lost Kane, Eriksen or Poch and be totally deflated by now...

I admire the optimism about ripping it up this season but what makes you think that, this squad wasn't good enough to win anything last season, we haven't improved and add in extra fatigue from the world cup. We literally limped to 3rd last season as it was. Failing to strengthen from a position of strength is verging on gross negligence from Levy.

For what it's worth I think we still owe you one cryptic solution.

Play it again Sam
From Casablanca
White House in Spanish
The White House is in Washington DC
District of Columbia
Barrio is the Spanish word for a neighbourhood or district
Barrios of Colombia

It obviously fell through but we were interested in him.

This. The amount of post-hoc rationalization going on is incredible. It's as if we are the only team that somehow can't improve the quad (despite all our rivals doing so), and we're unique in that our players will improve this year (which is nonsense).

I remember ITK of us going back for Sancho this summer and we failed to bring Sessegnon again. And I can see us trying to sign them in a few years and being happy to spend 100m for them. We have a decent squad but we have 2 injury prone midfielders and overall our midfield will get completely outclassed by the likes of Liverpool, City and Chelsea. Croatia showed how important it is to have good amd balanced midfield at World Cup. And Pochettino talking about wanting to challenge for the title makes me think that he won't be happy with being Wenger 2.0 and waiting for Levy to pay off new stadium. And at least Wenger would sign couple of HG youngsters every transfer window. It's stupid to take such risks and not making CL could just lose us money in the end and maybe someone like Eriksen. At least Toby stayed I guess but even Crystal Palace and Aston Villa managed to keep their top players.

Not til the European window closes. Same with Dembele and Rose or anyone else for that matter.
