Midfielder Harry Winks has taken the number 8 shirt, switching from number 29. Full-back and fellow Academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters will also be making a change as he switches to the number 16 shirt for the new campaign, having previously worn number 37.

I'm going to write something highly speculative, which is that there is a direct connection between Winks taking the no. 8 shirt and us not signing a central midfielder. There. I said it.

I would of liked Eriksen or Alli to have taken 8 myself but that shows great confidence from Winks.

IMO, he's already shown that he's good enough, but will he be fit and not injured enough?

Just hope Winks is able to get fit soon and stay fit as fully fit would be such an important player for us.

He just offers something different from all our other midfielders in engine room and can also play as a holder if we wanted to go with a destroyer-type for matches.

I agree.

We all like the idea of the club bringing through home grown players, but it means buying less. I don’t care if we don’t make signings, if the quality comes from within.

We can’t be a club that nurtures home grown talent and buys players every window. In Foyth, Winks, Walker-Peters, Onomah and Amos, we may already have the players we want to buy. We have to trust Poch to make these decisions.
