Without a doubt, I was invited into a side room for a spanking if I didn't shut my mouth when complaining about a mate's wrongful arrest and DD charge at Dunstable (he genuinely wasn't the driver but still got a 12 month ban, he was a gobby twat but not driving the vehicle he was a passenger in, I guess he was due). What was deemed acceptable in the eighties doesn't go on nowadays I'd hazard. Many moons suggests perhaps the whole custody management side of things changed since then. It's what should happen, at least nowadays.
There was so much ducking, diving and lying between the police and witnesses it's a whole other conversation on it's own.
