Alderweireld remains on the Tottenham books for now, and Pochettino insists the season ahead will be a 'new chapter' for the centre-back.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the matter, MP just does not have the resources to stick someone on the naughty step for a season.

Blank …….is the number of games???? :(

Hah.
And as Japhet kind of intimates, it is anyway a 'clean slate'! Why the Independent calls it 'blank' is anybody's guess. Ignorance I suppose. (Rant alert: I suppose it follows a line of inane bastardised sayings/terms such as 'whitewash' and ' the proof's in the pudding')

When I saw the title, I thought it was going to say a blank cheque!

I thought that he was offered one and turned it down?

Yes, but I believe there was ITK along the lines of he's come back with his tail between his legs after there was no interested parties willing to flash the cash and sign him.

I would love to see Toby Alderweireld sign a new long term contract with the club. He is still IMHO still one of the best CB in the Premier League. Only time will tell....???

Lots of pressure on Toby to sign as well. Every week he's losing around £50,000 and he's not getting younger. He probably thinks he can get a better deal with a richer club next season. To do that, he has to play his skin off, which is good for us this season.

thats what he did last season
Last season Levy would have had more influence with MP's selections.
He can't really make the same demands this season, after spending nothing.
MP is clearly tired of the whole thing - these are not football issues after all.

I bet Jose wishes he had him tonight, wonder how much his value just went up

Unless he does sign a new contract his value is very much locked.
Anyone can trigger a £25m release next summer. As that’s an absolute steal I’m sure his signing bonus will be huge, easily covering any £50k weekly short comings atm. No sweat for Toby.

He was absolutely immense for us last night though. As well as Sanchez improved last season, Toby really locks our defence. The number of times he takes the ball away from an attacker is incredible.

We must work on getting him a new deal imo
