Nothing article really. He's probably pretty content knowing that he either gets to leave on a free or gets a short term contract with a relatively low activation clause, which wouldn't put off a big club. He's in a win - win situation really and can afford to bide his time and see whether one of the big boys come in for him.

This side is in serious danger of falling apart if the powers that be don't sort out things like the contracts of our key players running down.

The fact that we haven’t tied players like Eriksen, Dele, Vertonghen and Alderweireld to new contracts, haven’t signed any new players , and still have no stadium move in date and no stadium rights holder hardly show us as being a well run club. More likely the stadium is hugely over budget and Lewis is looking for someone to buy him out. I may be wrong but the signs aren’t good.

Wow, talk about looking at the glass half empty. Instead remind yourself that one of the best strikers in the world just committed himself to the club. We have one of the best stadiums in the world nearing completion. Alli, Eriksen Vets I'm sure will all sign soon.

The delay on these two is frightening to me. Those 2 and Kane are so key to the future and the view of our club. If we can keep that group together, as they are our "biggest stars", I think it changes how other players view our team. It's like Lewandowski, Gotze & Reus at Dortmund, as soon as one of them left it all slowly started to come unravelled.

Honestly I hope I am wrong. But I don’t see that the signs are good. The one season we could least afford not to strengthen our squad was this one with so many of our players fatigued after the World Cup and it’s no surprise when so many tired players get injured. It does not show a club wanting to move forward and there is zero justification for it. There’s no point investing in a huge new stadium without investing in the team to fill it. Our squad is clearly not strong enough even if we have a great first eleven.

So either ENIC was very short sighted or there are financial issues looming. Or they see the stadium as a way to increase their asset value for a sale some time in the near future. Sorry but that’s how I see it.

I'm with you brother- the owners have been very naive- a couple of quality signings would have helped keep the squad on its toes, the fans rolling up even to Wembley and the broadcasters choosing our games. We can all see the CL is at risk next season, and can only hope the wheels fall off at Man U and Arse get found out. Otherwise it will go down as the summer when the Club went backwards, unneccesarily.

He wouldn't "leave on a free" for another 2 seasons

I would argue that NOT building a new stadium would have been very short sighted. ENIC have invested in infrastructure. Best training facilities, best stadium. We just happen to have gotten lucky in Poch. We have been punching well above our weight for the last decade, though Poch has taken us to another level. We are well ahead of schedule, we just happen to be lucky to have had a great team that happened to come together with Poch at the helm in the mean-time. We have a very bright future.

I mean that he'll either be content to wait to leave on a free at the end or have his release clause activated. He seems happy to leave his options open.

Assuming that the increased revenue filters through to providing extra financial firepower in the transfer market then yes, I agree.

we've been punching well above our spending on fees and wages, but not our "weight"- history, trophies, fanbase etc. Only under Sugar and early Levy did we rtruly fall away from the top 6.

ENIC lucked out on Bale, Poch, and Kane- how many other owners spent £5m on an asset sold for £85m, and nothing on a home-grown striker bulging the net 30 times a season?!

There is no "delay". They are negotiating. Negotiating takes time. Months. Years, sometimes. And now they are busy with a football season, which takes precedence.

I'd propose that, when you've gone through about 8 managers in about 13 years, looking for the right one, and you finally find him, you haven't been "lucky", you've been "persistent" and "determined".

People forget stuff. I don't. There was strong ITK within a few weeks of Pochettino's arrival that Levy was telling people at the club that he had finally found his man. That's got nothing to do with "luck", even when you factor in the unexpected events with Ramos, Redknapp/Capello and AVB. It's demanding the best and continuing to recruit until you find it.
