Worth every penny.
Are they? Not disputing your take just re-asking the question bc 130M is a shitload a dough. I can't imagine anyone paying this when you consider they league, competition, etc. But if they perform in the CL perhaps it might happen. Then again De Ligt is a Raiola client (Is that still correct?) so who knows.

I've not seen Ajax play at all in the last 2 years so I don't have an opinion whatsoever other than it being a large sum. I did see the two play for NED vs France however. FDJ did look very competent in his role and De Ligt caught the eye because he 'played' a little more than you would expect for a CB.

Bailly has been treated pretty badly at Man Utd despite some good performances when he first joined. Something must have gone on behind the scenes as his confidence seems to have been slowly eroded away. Now it seems like his agent is trying to get him out of there.

130M on FDJ and MDL ...
I'd take that all day long with age on their side. I expect them to improve further.

Eric Bailly is the best CB at Utd right now.....whilst that might not be saying a lot, he's a very good player. The issue for is his injury problems. He's struggled to stay fit since being in UK.

If there's no evidence of a chronic issue and he's not overpriced then I'd be happy for us to sign him. He shouldn't be a priority though unless we know Toby is still leaving next summer and even then I'd rather we look at a player like Jonathan Tah.

We were linked with Bakambu before he inexplicably buggered off to China.

He's had his injury issues, but I thought he looked close to imperious in his first season in the PL. It's obviously all gone wrong somewhere, and it doesn't help when Jose constantly erodes his defence's confidence. Would United sell to us for a reasonable fee, though? I highly doubt it.

Bailey is a good centre back.

As said maybe he’s being mismanaged a bit at the moment and Man U’s defence in general is a tad shakey.

We’ve been linked quite a lot with Ake from Bournemouth, he looks quite promising and is left footed as well!

I'd argue that CB should be almost zero priority right now and while I don't think Aké is bad there are surely better players we could go for, no?

Worth every penny.
We know that we are getting two players with exceptional technical ability, not only that but two players who because of this can be moulded into our squad. They'd be well worth it, as you say. Unfortunately we will have serious competition now.

Also, maybe we should start shopping in some leagues other than just England, France & Holland. In the last 3 years we've only bought Foyth outside of those 3 leagues. There is talent galore in Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy... We're seemingly ignoring all of it. I don't get it, we seem to be connected/identify good targets and then just skip out on them. How much better would it have turned out if bought Under instead of Llorente? I know its different positions but we don't play Llorente anyways, just let the different attacking players rotate at forward. That way we would have another option on the right side who could cut in on his left when Lamela is hurt. Only 13.4mil...

The trouble is not every player hits it off from abroad, and with prices as high as they are now, then it makes it even tougher to venture abroad. Who would of thought a player like Saldado would struggle, and there has been many others.

Not every player hits it off from the Prem, Ligue 1 and the Eredevisie either... We've completely given up on those leagues.
