Looks like the penultimate crane is coming down!

Probably just so they can sell it to cover the costs of another game at Wembley...:cautious::LOL:

I think at this point, all of us who have been following the stadium fiasco closing will believe that if there’s smoke then it’s usually because a pile of shit is burning.

Let’s face it, people will believe what they want to believe. Every time there is an impending announcement and a media outlet or source suggest it’s not good news they are discredited as knowing nothing. However you can bet if it’s good news the very same people will be suggesting they must have contacts.

Apart from the odd bit of muck-raking from the tabloids almost all of the delays have caught by the papers before being announced. Obviously the club brief them privately to try and manage the story.

I understand many would but for me it just takes the shine off and would rather just start from fresh next season and give it a proper unveiling.

I also think that it’s more than likely to cause a bit of disruption that could result in a negative result or 2 on the pitch and all for the sake of a couple of games.

And the millions of pounds every game we're not in there for for is costing the club

Also, I’d bet any money that, after Warnock’s little prompt, you’ll get Palace screaming bloody murder about the unfairness of it all if they are announced as the first game. It’ll definitely be stoked-up in the papers.

Sue the fuck out of Mace would be my answer to that. I’m sure we’ve factored in that risk anyway.

What is the cost? I’ve seen loads of different figures branded about tbh.

We have now received a post-Christmas/New Year update from the contractors involved in the critical safety systems at our new stadium.

The past month has seen remedial works take place, software issues resolved and corrected safety equipment installations increase. Testing has also continued.

We are now liaising with the contractors and building control at Haringey Council to determine a schedule of commissioning, building test dates and building control sign-offs, along with formal test event dates.

Given the time required to deliver these and the test events, we can confirm that our Premier League matches against Watford (30 January), Newcastle United (2 February) and Leicester City (10 February) – and our Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund (13 February) – will take place at Wembley Stadium.

Should we continue to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup and have a home draw, this too would be played at Wembley Stadium (weekend of 16/17 February).

In order to reduce the inconvenience to fans, the three Premier League matches will be refunded in one transaction and similarly all three games can be purchased together in one transaction. All three matches will be Category C pricing from the 2017/18 season. The 51,000 capacity cap will apply for these fixtures.

Daniel Levy, Chairman, said: “I should like to apologise to our fans and thank you for your continued patience. The response from those who attended the familiarisation event was great to hear and reinforced our commitment to deliver an exceptional matchday experience for everyone. We shall now seek clarity in respect of building test schedules and test event dates and provide further information on these in the next two to three weeks.”

It's fucking stupid at this point to move into the new stadium at the business end of the season. I'd rather wait until the summer in all honesty. I don't want to be 4-6 points from top and suddenly we are switching stadiums and have an adjustment period when it matters most.

It may well do, so it just comes down to whether we want that disruption at the end of this season or at the start of a new season. Personally I think it makes sense to do it in a season that's already been disrupted by playing at another ground but I can see the arguments either way.

As for taking the shine off the opening if we do it mid-season, I can see what you're saying, but it would be an extremely expensive bit of gloss to delay it until next season for that reason. If it's costing £1M a game at Wembley and we could have another seven games there then you're talking about enough money to fund the wages of one of our top players for over three and a half years. Is it really worth that?
