I would play llorente rather than bring someone in. You don't just bring someone in because a player is injured... That leads to buying crap and overpriced crap.

Son is a huge miss but he will be back within three or four games and we will terrorise defences again
Agree plus Poch never plays new signings from the off. Llorente will be familiar with what Poch expects tactics wise so won’t need any time in that aspect either.

Any top club would dip into the market after this news, will we?

We already had potential role for a striker since we started using formations with 2 strikers, plus with Llorente off in the summer there is a definite need in the squad.

Just put it this way, if I had to bet my house on us bringing someone in or not as a result of this news, I certainly know which way I'd be betting....

It's a blow, but time for others to step up. Llorente, Moura, one of the U21 strikers, all have to see it as a chance to come in, give 110% and take the opportunity they will have in the next few weeks. Then you have the ones in behind the striker - Alli/Lamela/Eriksen - need to step up further and take responsibility. Edit: In fact, as a collective, players and coaches, they've all got to step up. No facet with or without the ball has hit the highest of standards this season and as a whole unit they have to now raise their game to get through tough periods.

Sincerely hope Poch isn't as emotionally fragile as some in this thread..... People predict the apocalypse every single year we don't do what the narrative says we should have done, and yet amazingly we keep doing alright. We are a settled, well coached team with enough quality and I expect us to continue to be very competitive in any game we play and no excuses.

What is all this March, Mid March bollox. Nothing confirmed to that effect

If he is out for a month, which is a good bet that means he's back for Dortmund on Feb 13th or that weekend the 16th of Feb which is FA Cup 5th Round weekend, should we scrape through v Palace

Being more pessimistic than that at this stage is nonsense

As for his loss, yes It's a blow but this group of players has proved us and everyone else wrong time after time after time in the last few years so lets have a bit of belief in them and our manager

Poch is 100% right when he talks about us believing. We might need quite a lot of that in the next month or so....

I had a meltdown on my group text so i'll spare you all other than to say we're in a hole now with son and lucas out, lamela half crocked and eriksen having an arm, leg and 2 feet at the Bernabeu. An attacker has just become a big need now to go along with 2 CM's. TOo bad we wont be signing anyone.
Why spare us all this? This is literally your moment to shine! WTF!

Whichever forward we like, whether that's Zaha or someone else, needs to be brought in now. We need to replace Son and Kane and bolster our options for when they return.

I think we basically have to treat this as though Kane's out for the season. Especially given his ankles seem weak in general it would be very foolish to rush him back, and training in early March probably means playing again at the very end of it or the start of April, with only 6-7 weeks of the season left, the strong possibility we're out of all the cups unless we step up now, and him likely taking a bit to hit his stride. I'm sure Poch has been diligent in looking at the best alternatives for this eventuality knowing that Kane is injury prone.

Kane usually gets back earlier than expected so wouldn't be surprised to at least see him on the bench for final (assumung we make it)

Yeah the alternative begins with Heung, ends in Son and has Min in the middle

100% - It was pretty much a rhetorical question as we all know the answer.

It's too hard to buy in January (conveniently forgetting the other lot bought Aubameyang last year).

Sorry. I guess if we couldn't have signed a real person, we should have at least bought a crystal ball so we would know who would be injured and when.

The facetiousness is so misplaced, it’s embarrassing how little self-awareness you have here. You, and the happy-clapping echo chamber, are burying your heads in the sand and taking issue with anybody who is actually being realistic about the situation.

Having had a successful season, it was unanimous (except to Levy and some of his luddites) that we needed to strengthen the squad. Otherwise we’d leave ourselves open to being short-handed, and susceptible to an injury crisis. The whole season we’ve somehow performed miracles, even in the midst of an almost constant struggle against waves of injuries - and now it’s hit its peak. Yet you guys want to act like we’re wrong for criticising Levy’s fucking idiotic actions in the last window (and no doubt this window).

We have just lost the best striker in the league to injury, our second top scorer to an international tournament, our one fully fit central midfielder to injury - the other option to China, Eriksen is running his contract down, Toby is free to go for pittance this summer and there is not even a sniff of a concrete link for reinforcements.

You would have to be dense in the extreme to not see the problem with it.
