Even if we were interested, chances are it would cost over the odds to secure him in January. And essentially it would be for a player who would not be guaranteed a starting birth when everyone is fit. For the huge expense this would take with wages + fee, on what would essentially be a panic buy, I just don't see it. It would fly in the face of how ENIC have operated in their whole period in charge of the club.

I do agree with this, however if it's a long term target in a position we will be looking at in the summer regardless, is it truly a panic buy?

Not that I expect it to happen of course.

Yes it's a position we are looking for cover in but I don't ever think the club were thinking of paying £70m on a Kane back up. And if he is not back up is he really better than Son/Alli/Eriksen? In the positions behind? I just don't see it.

The whole German team were to be fair.

In the league Werner has been consistent for the past few seasons. He is an exciting talent and I think he would add another weapon to our attack but I think the fee will be the issue and the fact its January, clubs don’t like selling in January unless its for big money.

I have two counter points, but history suggests you are probably right.

1) Martial/Zaha were targets in the summer and would have been £50m+, which could be a rough ball park for Werner with 18 months left.
2) We have often played with two up this season, with either Son or Moura alongside Kane. I'd argue Werner is much better than Moura in that role, and close to Son. There is more scope for another striking option this season.

I think this would be a good signing but unlikely. He seems destined to go to Bayern as a replacement for lewendowski

Seems very very very unlikely that this happens since....

1) It's January so you have to pay more
2) Kane's injury puts us over the barrell and other teams know that. Our leverage is zero. Quoted prices probably went up 15-20% at the end of the Man U match.
3) Kane is best striker in world so anyone coming will have to compete with him (and Son and Alli and etc)

So IMO Trix and JJ are saying Spurs are definitely interested and probably even inquiring with the club and player, but realistically the numbers it would take to make happen are just too much for Spurs. Trix also first stated they are investigating loans and Werner doesn't appear to be a player that would be loaned out.

I hope I am wrong. Levy knows the stakes going into next year (Losing potentially Eriksen, Poch, and Champions League all at once destroys us). Hopefully something can get done.

Perfect signing if it happens and of equal priority as a CM.

- Pushes Kane with competition
- Kane can drop behind, where his passing ability Shines.
- Werner can play behind or out wide with his pace - all the best teams are devastating on the counter attack. Him and Son would be deadly.

Werner to replace Llorente squad place in Summer.

I doubt money will be an issue here. More the dynamics of the transfer and timing for all parties. I personally feel the time is now for us or the ship will sail in Summer.

Chelsea have eyes on someone else, United won't buy now, Liverpool & City don't need him - We're best PL option and he'll get game time from day one.

Fingers crossed!

Werner would be perfect in the current 4-4-2 diamond we tend to play atm.

Can he play on the wing aswell?

He's only 22, has scored 45 goals in 80 appearances for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, and 9 goals in 23 appearances for Germany. Before joining RB Leipzig he was a much vaunted talent as a teenager for Stuttgart and we've been tracking him (according to media reports) since 2015. He scores with both feet and his head, scores penalties, long range shots and is quick. He is very similar to Kane IMO, but also shares some of Son's attributes.

His youtube show reel is pretty impressive (all goals and assists in 2017/18 recommended).

Will need movement from both sides to happen imo.
Not sure there would be much incentive for movement from Leipzig. If I was them I would be saying pay the asking price or off you f**k.

I'll put £50 in the coffers if we sign Werner or deJong. Absolutely fuck all chance we get either of them IMO but it maintains the illusion that we're aiming high.

BUT how much money do we lose if we drop out of the top 4 and don’t have Champions league going into our new stadium?

It could be one of these very rare moments where we speculate to maintain existing cash flow and it actually makes sense to part with some serious cash.

But probably not.

Plus we have 91 one pages to go.... ;)
