Looking at how players develop under Poch, he really must be kicking himself. He had all the tools to be a great player for us.

That is a 'come and sign me' plea if I have ever heard one and I actually think we should bring him back depending on price.

He looked like he was becoming a decent player under Poch and at 24 he is still pretty young and has room to develop.

Was never a fan of him being sold, there was so much untapped potential, and he had shown from a young age that he could be an important player for us.

I understand and appreciate Poch’s no nonsense attitude in terms of squad discipline but that’s not to say he gets absolutely everything correct. Having said that, perhaps it was a case of Nabil needing to be sold and play elsewhere in order for him to reach the current positive mindset and mature attitude he is now expressing.

Who knows, maybe there could be a return for him

Didn't he fall out with Poch because he wouldn't follow team/tactical orders during games and kept on losing the ball too deep which culminated in conceding a couple of goals?

Im sure it was something along those lines and Poch had enough so sold him. I suspect its in this thread somewhere. I always liked him as a player as he seemed to have so much room to grow into a better player

People wanting Bentaleb resigned just shows how desperate we all are for a signing. Decent player but his attitude has come in to question at Schalke too if I remember correctly. Not worth the hassle.

Interesting article, especially how basically he admitted he was kicking up a strop and having bust ups with Poch when he got back from injury and not going straight back into team.

Was an odd thing at the time as he'd been pretty much first choice in midfield all previous season and been promoted to the number 6 shirt over the summer.

Then he had a nightmare at start of season, then injured and pretty much gone from then.

Don't mess with the Poch.

Also amusing to see in article how Dembele was not trusted at time to play - just goes to show how things can change in the footballing world! (and then same now has happened with Sissoko, which I'm still in a state of shock about lol).

I’d love him back here. I was certain he would have become a huge player for us when he was here. Has the ability to CDM/CM and CAM.. even remember him playing LB away at Everton and having an absolute blinder. The lad is just a real talent, anyone who questioned that doesn’t know their football

Always rated him highly. Shame he kicked up a strop that didnt go down well with Poch. But those days he was young and immature. There's no doubting his huge talent. I seriously believe he is a better all-round DM than Dier.

If ever there was a time to bring him back, this is the time, what with Dier seemingly regressing, Wanyama not what he used to be, Dembele has left and Skipp running like a headless chicken.

He wont be that expensive too and it seems he has learnt his lesson.

I'll take him in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't mind giving him a chance. I'm tired of this 'bad personality' argument. We have a very strong squad mentality, bad apples won't rot our barrel anymore, they'd either change their ways or they'd just get squished. And it would be nice to go after a midfielder that actually seems to like us...

Decent talent with good athleticism but ultimately was a bit of a hider. Converse of Winks in terms of on-pitch attitude. It’s not about how many touches or passes, I’m sure they’d be comparable between the two, but about where you receive and play the ball, and in what circumstances.

I wouldn't describe him as that that tbh

Is there much difference between him and Rabiot? They seem pretty similar in style, able to play all over the midfield. Not sure if Rabiot has gone elsewhere yet, but Bentaleb would certainly fit in and bust a gut here. Must be worth a look?
