The most interesting thing about the whole incident was Sarri walking off down the tunnel. What exactly was he thinking ?
Imo
1. I can’t deal with this ( as in the pressure got to him) like you’d run away from a situation as a kid you couldn’t face.

2. He just thought this is bollox the last straw I’ve had enough.

Either way it shows he’s incredibly weak mentally and very vulnerable. You couldn’t for a second imagine another top manager acting that way in that situation.
I feel sorry for the guy.
Already under a load of pressure, this incident clearly enraged him, but I do think he would have dealt with it differently if he was more at peace with the whole situation in general - not just the pressure from the media and watching millions, but also the stress of a final, would i be right in saying it would have been his first trophy?

Anyway, the way he came out with that press conference just a matter of minutes later was extraordinary ; so calm, nonplussed, he diffused the situation amazingly. Well, as much as was possible at the time on a diplomatic level. By saying Kepa did the right thing in the wrong way he has gained control of the situation.

I'd be interested in seeing how he'd do at a Prem club that actually backed him.

Not with us, obviously.

I still have no idea what Sarri Ball is. His head?

It all goes to show that he is a weak manager. He makes the decision not the players, right or wrong. Pretending to storm of to the dressing room then turning back shows his weakness. Hope he stays.

Also shows their captain is equally as weak. He should've dragged the 'keeper off the pitch and told him to respect the bloke who selects him each week.

Unless, of course, that captain also doesn't respect the guy who selects him each week, despite making him captain.

The commentators were going on about him coming on after extra time and I am pretty sure you can't put a sub on after the game has finished, otherwise teams would put penalty takers sitting on the bench on

Unless the laws have changed only the players on the field of play at the end of the game can take penalties.

10.2 Where the Final Tie goes to extra time (in accordance with the provisions of Rule 14.6), then each Club participating in that Final will be permitted to use an additional substitute (in extra time only).

I'd like to have seen a Roy Keane kind of Captain on the pitch and see how he would have reacted lol.
He'd have politely told him get off the fkin pitch before I lay you out and they have to carry you off ya fkin prick lol.

Roy Keane would never say ya. Even when asking for one of his orange spray-tans

Paul Merson reckons Brendan Rodgers would have been a good shout for Chelsea boss.

I have to admit i’m kinda intrigued, as Rodgers would possibly work more with their extensive youth players (and was reserve or youth team boss for them before I think?) given their upcoming transfer ban.

That was my first thought too. The senior players at the club should've gone over to him and made him go off. Even if you don't care that you're disrespecting the manager, you're still disrespecting the club and your team mates IMO by making a massive scene and causing an unnecessary distraction in the middle of a crucial game.

It's one thing to be reluctant to go off and "refuse" half-heartedly for a couple of seconds like some players do, but for him to drag it on for so long to way beyond the point where it was getting awkward and was causing a massive disruption.distraction is bang out of order regardless of what you think of Sarri IMO. It's not about you as an individual player, it's about the club being in the cup final and all the fans watching in the stadium and at home. Kepa jeapordised all that just so that he could try and have his own personal moment of glory and it's an absolute disgrace IMO.

As you say, just shows how broken their dressing room is and that pre-dates Sarri. He's not the problem, the whole club needs a massive shake-up just like Arsenal during Wenger's last couple of years.
