Sorry, it may be harsh, but in cases like this it's important we get to the truth. Regardless of what the agent, charter company etc did, the pilot himself clearly had a role too. Ultimately he must have known that he was unqualified to fly at night, that as a colour-blind person he never would be qualified and that it was fundamentally dangerous, and yet he chose to do so anyway - taking a risk not just with his own life, but also somebody else's (not to mention a £15m asset, which is of course far less important but still has repurcussions as we're seeing). It's very hard to see how he doesn't bare at least a portion of the responsibility, and the fact that the worst did happen and he lost his own life too doesn't change that. Now the papers have turned their attention to the dead pilot to discredit him. I saw one headline sayin he was colour blind and another that he wasn’t qualified to fly at night. The papers are just scum really, let the poor man’s family live their lives and not have to deal with these shitty stories, true or not.
Frankly I don't see it as being much different to a drunk driver who gets in an accident and kills himself as well as a passenger. Just because he's died wouldn't stop everyone from pointing out that he'd been an absolute muppet.
